  • Patent number: 4643443
Abstract: A removable trailer hitch assembly for connecting a gooseneck trailer to a pickup truck is disclosed. The hitch assembly provides a base frame having a ball hitch mounted thereon and adapted to be positioned in the floor of the pickup truck box so the frame straddles both wheel wells and positions the ball hitch over the rear axle of the pickup truck. Two pairs of pivotable elongate members telescopingly attach to the base frame to frictionally engage the lower surface of the upper horizontal side rail caps of the pickup box. Biasing between and toward each side pair of side rail engaging members is provided to secure the hitch assembly in the pickup bed by making a positive frictional engagement with the box side rails. Upon the connection of the trailer to the hitch assembly the weight of the trailer and the fore and aft pull of the trailer further secure the hitch assembly to the pickup box. The hitch assembly is attached to the pickup box without the necessity for drilling, bolting or welding.

  • Patent number: 4325353
Abstract: An apparatus for the heating of ambient air within enclosed chambers in the walls of a fireplace, providing a more efficient means of utilizing the heat radiation produced by a fireplace and also to provide fresh warm air for heating purposes throughout a home is disclosed.Cold ambient temperature air is forced into the system by a two-speed fan through a cold air conduit into the outer chamber of the fireplace apparatus. The air is forced up the outer chamber to the top of the chimney where it crosses over to the inner heating chamber and the diagonal duct located within the flue space of the chimney. As the air progresses down the inner warm air passageway and the diagonal flue duct, it is heated by conduction through a metal wall in contact with the hot gases produced by the fire. The air then is forced down through these passageways into the rear and sides of the firebox. The air is fed thorugh a manifold grating under the fire, and then collected in the hot air plenum located at the base of the firebox.

  • Patent number: 4325430
Abstract: A heat recapture device for attachment to a furnace or fireplace exhaust flue is disclosed. Duct work in the device allows ambient air to be warmed by combustion exhaust gases. Air thus heated may be used to heat the surrounding living space. Additional duct work causes circulation of fresh air into the room and serves as a heat insulating shield around the periphery of the device.

  • Patent number: 4064864
Abstract: An apparatus for improving the heating characteristics of a fireplace for an enclosed area is disclosed. A heat exchange conduit extends concentrically through the chimney for a distance and then connects at one end to a ducting system having at least one outlet within the enclosed area. The other end of the conduit is connected with a plurality of bent arms which are positioned in the firebox and they, in turn, connect with a manifold pipe. The manifold pipe is a horizontal member having heat sensitive valves in the ends thereof, and orifices along the length thereof directed toward the firebox. A fan is positioned within the ducting to pull air primarily from the enclosed area and force it through the conduit.
