Patent number: 4686955Abstract: An eccentric for a compound bow includes two sheaves for the bowstring and tension runs, respectively. The sheaves carry nonparallel tracks of noncircular configuration which are oriented so that the cam ratio of the eccentric increases rapidly during the initial stages of draw. The track for the tension run includes a ramp which urges the terminal end of the tension run down towards the axis of the eccentric and away from the plane of the bowstring.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1984Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Browning Arms CompanyInventor: Marlow W. Patent number: 4521972Abstract: Illuminated sighting structure for archery bows wherein a bow attachment bracket is provided not only with sighting units but also with lighting means for selectively illuminating such sighting units, especially the tips thereof. The bow-sight illumination structure itself is designed to have a plastic non-conductive case and allowing for on-off conditions of the light employed by a non-conductive element being interposed in the electrical circuit, which, when compressed, will complete such circuit. This is preferably accomplished by a metallic disc or element within a non-conductive ring, the disc being of less width than the ring. An adjustment screw accomplishes the width-wise compression of the ring, for conduction purposes, and also a backing off such that the ring by its nature expands so as to separate the electrical elements of the lighting circuit.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1983Date of Patent: June 11, 1985Inventor: Marlow W. Larson

Patent number: 4489705Abstract: An archery device comprising a bowstring draw and trigger release mechanism wherein a trigger releasably retains a sear that actuates a release lever, the latter being used for releasing the bowstring loop incorporated in the device. In a preferred form of the invention the sear is provided with a roller or wheel that engages the engaged extremity of the release lever. Structure is provided for adjusting sear pressure relative to the shoulder of the notch provided the trigger; additionally, a locking screw is provided for adjusting the overlap of the sear surface with said shoulder. The finger grip employed posterior of the trigger is made adjustable for convenience of use by the operator.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1979Date of Patent: December 25, 1984Inventor: Marlow W. Larson

Patent number: 4449303Abstract: An improved sighting screw unit for and with archery bows wherein the sighting screw unit is adjustable up and down within a particular slot of a bracket mount attached to the bow. The unit cooperates with the slot in a rack-and-pinion type of engagement. Means is provided for frictionally engaging the sighting screw of the unit and is constructed for keying to the pinion portion of the adjustment member of the unit such that the screw will rotate in one-to-one relationship with such adjustment member of the unit. In this way there is no windage change of the screw relative to the unit as the latter is moved up and down within the bracket-slot provided. The structure is constructed and dimensioned, and preferably also marked, for accurate indications of changes in vertical position for individual position replacements.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1983Date of Patent: May 22, 1984Inventor: Marlow W. Larson

Patent number: 4309827Abstract: An improved adjustable sighting device for archery bows wherein the various sighting screw units employed, and as mounted to a suitable mount apart or attachable to a bow, can be made incrementally adjustable not only as to azimuth or windage but also vertically. In particular, and as to vertical adjustment, the device includes releasable locking means whereby sighting screwunits can be releasably fixed in a chosen position and yet sighting released and adjusted for other vertical positions. A serrated slide-lock member may be employed with serrated margins of slots provided in the sighting screw mount. Importantly, and preferably, a rack-pinion arrangement is provided as between mounting plate slots and a sighting screw adjustment member whereby, even though the locking nut of the sighting screw unit is released, the device will still not fall downwardly relative to the slot but rather can be finally adjusted as to vertical orientation prior to nut re-lock.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1979Date of Patent: January 12, 1982Inventor: Marlow W. Larson

Patent number: 4305208Abstract: A new and improved sighting device and range-finder and sighting device combination wherein the elemental sighting devices incorporate a sighting screw disposed within and through first and second separate mounting members having corresponding aligned apertures, one of the sighting members incorporating interiorly threaded means. The sighting devices themselves are constructed and arranged for gripping or clamping onto an elongate member and are selectively adjustable thereon. In a preferred form of the invention, irregular mating surfaces of such elongate member and the respective sighting devices used, prevent inadvertent slippage of such devices on the elongate member. The split-construction of the respective bodies sighting members enable users to install easily certain range indication markings as necessary, this obviating prior manufacturing expense. Fore and aft sighting-device mounting is provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1979Date of Patent: December 15, 1981Inventor: Marlow W. Larson
