Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for checking for viruses by adding a virus scanning capability to a data transfer device. In a method of the present invention a real-time virus checker is stored on a controller. The virus checker scans data as it is being written to a file. If a virus is detected, the suspected file is flagged. Anti-virus software is then invoked to perform a scan of the entire suspected file. In this manner, demands on CPU resources to perform scans will be greatly reduced as only those files marked as possibly containing a viruse need to be scanned, rather than scanning all the files on the entire data transfer device.

Abstract: A system and method that provides an electronic menu wirelessly interconnected with a restaurant's server is provided. The restaurant server provides the electronic menu device with the menu items and menu software used to navigate through the menu items and options. The electronic menu provides the patron with details regarding menu items including detailed descriptions, photographs and videos, and nutritional information. The patron's order is wirelessly transmitted to the restaurant server and communicated to the restaurant kitchen staff. The electronic menu device is also used to request assistance and request the status of an order that has been placed. The patron can pay using the electronic menu device by providing credit card information or the patron can request assistance and provide payment, such as cash, to the restaurant's wait staff.

Abstract: A system controlled by a data processor for controlling vehicle operational functions enabled for each of a plurality of vehicle drivers comprising a combination of means for assigning to each of a group of drivers a vehicle operation key with a unique identifier, means for storing these identifiers, means for assigning to each of the group of drivers a set of operational functions that each driver is enabled to perform, means for designating a vehicle operation manager and means enabling this operation manager to modify each of the set of operational functions assigned to each of the group of drivers. The vehicle has means for directly receiving one of said vehicle operation keys together with means responsive to the receiving of the key for enabling all of the operational functions assigned to the driver who is identified by the key identifier.

Abstract: A computer controlled interactive display RFID (radio frequency identification) household system enabling a householder to track and manage a set of RFID tags containing household possessions located within short range RF limited boundaries of a household facility. The implementation includes the combination of a short range RF transceiver for identifying and communicating with all RFID tags within the household boundaries and apparatus for inputting data indicating whether a RFID tag within said household boundaries is in one of the set of household possessions. In such an environment, there also is an implement for inputting this tracking and management data, as well as for storing this input data. There is also provided a function for prompting said householder in response to the entry within said household boundaries of a RFID tag not in one of the set of household possessions.

Abstract: Cellular telephones embodying 3G system protocols with a storage drive that can add upwards of two to four gigabytes of data storage to the mobile wireless cellular telephone member in a portable attachment that is readily integratable with any standard cellular 3G telephone housing. A high function Third Generation (3G) cellular telephone with high functions, such as teleconferencing and multimedia, is enhanced with a high capacity ancillary storage unit removably attached to the telephone that includes a housing having means for receiving the ancillary storage unit. The ancillary storage unit preferably has a USB I/O slot for removably receiving a USB key drive.

Abstract: A system and method is provided that matches a shopping list with an order that items are found in a store. The customer prepares an electronic list by browsing through a list of items and selecting which items the customer wishes to purchase. The customer is provided with an identifier to use to retrieve the list at a later time or to print out a path through a store at either a store kiosk or a printer attached to the customer's computer. The customer chooses a store and requests a path through the store for the selected items. The customer's list is used to find the locations of the items in the store and print a path through the store in an optimal fashion for the store. Static and dynamic coupons associated with selected items are printed so that the coupons can be scanned from the resulting printout.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media are disclosed for tracking code development. One embodiment includes receiving, by a single application within an integrated development environment, a status request. Further, the embodiment includes requesting, by the single application, data, responsive to the status request, from at least one management tool in communication with the single application. The embodiment also includes passing the data from the at least one management tool to the single application. Finally, the embodiment includes generating, by the single application, a status report based on the data. Additional embodiments include publishing the status report, wherein the publishing may be audio, visual or both, configuring an interface for the status report, and storing one or more versions, including the most current version, of the status report.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media are disclosed for assisting in testing a section of code during code development. One embodiment includes identifying a section of code for testing, and retrieving historical test data and current bug data from one or more databases for the section of code. The historical test data includes test results, for example, for previous test scripts written for the section of code, and the bugs recorded against the previous versions of the section of the code. The current bug data, for instance, includes the current bugs and what developer(s) wrote the current section of the code. The embodiment also includes analyzing the historical test data and the current bug data to yield an estimate of errors remaining in the section of code. Finally, the embodiment includes displaying the estimate, whereby the estimate assists in scheduling and test scripting for the section of code.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media are disclosed for translating comments in code. One embodiment includes checking out, from a code repository, code having the comments, which are in a foreign language. Further, the embodiment includes selecting a desired language for translation of the comments, and then identifying the comments in the code to be translated, which are referred to as “identified comments.” The embodiment also includes translating the identified comments from the foreign language into the language selected for translation, which then results in producing translated comments. Finally, the embodiment includes publishing the translated comments, wherein the publishing may be audio, visual or both.

Abstract: A self-adjusted car stereo system is provided. The system includes means for allowing a user to select an ideal listening location. After the ideal listening location has been selected, the system will determine whether sound from each speaker reaches the ideal listening location at the same volume level. If not, the system will automatically adjust the volume of the speakers to ensure that it is indeed so.

Abstract: Defects in released computer software products may be tracked on a real-time basis by agents at service call centers simultaneously with the agents handling of the telephone inquiry to the call center. A computer controlled display is associated with the service center, a function on the display, ancillary to a customer telephone inquiry to the service center, prompts the service agent at the service center to interactively select a software defect category to which the inquiry may relate and there is an implementation responsive to a selection of a software defect category to interactively prompt the service agent during the telephone inquiry to interactively respond to a set of statistical questions related to the defect category. The system should also include a database associated with the service center for storing data representative of the responses of the service agent. At the end of the service call, the agent should have the option of entering or not entering his responses into the database.

Abstract: A system, method, and related computer program for isolating sections of data from a document for printing said designated data from received documents from the World Wide Web and like networks, or from documents such as pdf files, source code files, presentation, spread sheet, and Word documents. An interactive browser associated with each of the receiving stations in the network accesses received documents from the network and displays the documents at any receiving display station. The user is then able to isolate designated data and print only the designated data without the extraneous displayable data included in the received document. The browser further includes means for copying the designated data to create a secondary document having a document format structure which is independent of the format structure of the underlying received document. There is provided mean for storing this secondary document in association with the browser which is independent of said received Web document.

Abstract: A World Wide Web (Web) communication network with user access via a plurality of data processor controlled interactive Web display stations having a Web Service distribution system formed by the combination of a registry of platform independent Web Services available as integratable Web Service modules distributable over the Web from registered suppliers to requesting users, an implementation enabling suppliers to register said integrated Web Service modules being offered by said suppliers for distribution to users at said Web station, an implementation enabling users of said Web Services to request distribution of such services to their respective Web stations, an implementation enabling said suppliers of said Web Services to bill user provided with said Web Services to bill requesting users for said Web Services provided over the Web, and an implementation enabling third parties to track said distribution and said billing via the Web.

Abstract: A simple region-specific broadcasting system for broadcasting information pertinent to motor vehicles in sequential regions of a roadway or highway directly to such vehicles when the vehicles are passing through such sequential regions. Existing cellular facilities and resources may be advantageously used in the implementation of the system. A system for broadcasting short range RF real-time information to motor vehicles traveling along a roadway implemented through a sequence of transceiving short range broadcast stations along said highway, the stations spaced so that the broadcast ranges of said stations tangentially overlap each other. Each of the sequence of motor vehicles moving along this roadway should include a transceiver for the short range RF signals.

Abstract: A method of doing business that enables a computer power service broker operating over the World Wide Web (Web) to distribute and track such distribution of computer power. The computer power service broker solicits: each of a plurality of client computer stations on the Web to offer for general distribution over the Web computer power in excess to the computer power requirements of each respective client computer station; and a plurality of consumer stations on the Web to request the performance of functions requiring computer power. The broker then distributes each of said requested functions requiring computer power among a plurality of said client stations offering said computer power and then tracks and bills consumer stations for computer power used in performance of requested functions. Finally, the computer power broker tracks and compensates the client stations for the excess computer power that they contribute in performance of the requested functions.
