Patent number: 10819946Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for projecting streamed video are provided. An Example Surround Video Projection System (SVPS) provides support for interacting with the displayed virtual reality environment, capturing a video of a user in the VR environment, and displaying the VR environment on deformations. Also, the SVPS may change the displayed VR environment responsive to attributes and/or characteristics of the user. In one example, the SVPS comprises a real time, interactive rendering system, a display system, and one or more display units. The rendering system comprises a high resolution graphics engine capable of generating high resolution video. The projection system comprises video capture cards to capture the generated video stream and forward it to a projection mapping engine. The projection mapping engine consolidates and stitches together the received video stream as appropriate to render the video stream over display units to the target viewing environment such as a dome/sphere.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2019Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: KILBURN LIVE, LLCInventors: Mars Tanumihardja, Joseph Laurino, Ashly Yeo

Patent number: 10719987Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for projecting streamed video are provided. An Example Surround Video Projection System (SVPS) provides support for displaying augmented reality elements in a virtual reality environment such that the AR elements appear inside the target viewing environment upon which the virtual reality environment is rendered. The projection mapping engine consolidates and stitches together the received video stream as appropriate to render the video stream over display units to the target viewing environment.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: KILBURN LIVE, LLCInventors: Mars Tanumihardja, Joseph Laurino, Ashly Yeo

Patent number: 10321109Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for projecting streamed video are provided. Example Enhanced Video Systems provide support for streaming high resolution video in limited bandwidth hardware environments. In one example, an Enhanced Video System comprises a real time, interactive rendering system, a display system, and one or more display units. The rendering system comprises a high resolution graphics engine (e.g., a VR/AR gaming engine) capable of generating high resolution video and two graphics computation units. The projection system comprises two video capture cards to capture the generated video stream and forward the captured video stream to a projection mapping engine. Projection mapping engine consolidates and stitches together the received video stream as appropriate to render the video stream over display units to the target viewing environment such as a dome/sphere.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2017Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Vulcan Inc.Inventors: Mars Tanumihardja, Joseph Laurino, Ashly Yeo

Publication number: 20170109781Abstract: A media delivery system that may be used for tracking the number and type of human impressions of media content rendered by the system during the time the media was rendered is provided. The media delivery system includes a rendering device for rendering media content, an environmental sensor for sensing impressions and other environmental variables and a computing device configured to gather data related to the external states detected by the environmental sensor. The data may be provided to a backend server for correlating the data to the rendered media content. The system may include rules that interpret that data and may cause the system to custom select, tailor or control future playback of media on the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2016Publication date: April 20, 2017Applicant: VULCAN IP HOLDINGS INC.Inventors: Robert E. Kaplan, Stuart Graham, Mars Tanumihardja, Ajay Arora, Johann Gareia, Prasantha Jayakody

Patent number: 9105040Abstract: A system for publishing advertising media on a plurality of media delivery systems, each configured to render media and gather environmental data while rendering the media. The system includes a front-end system in communication with the plurality of media delivery systems. The front-end system is configured to permit an advertiser to select at least one of the plurality of media delivery systems on which to render advertising media and is further configured to accept advertising media uploaded by the advertiser. The system further includes a back-end system in communication with the front-end system and the plurality of media delivery systems. The back-end system is configured to upload the advertising media to the selected media delivery systems for rendering and is further configured to upload the environmental data from the plurality of media delivery systems.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2008Date of Patent: August 11, 2015Assignee: VULCAN IP HOLDINGS, INCInventors: Robert E. Kaplan, Stuart Graham, Mars Tanumihardja, Ajay Arora, Johann Garcia
