  • Patent number: 11821510
Abstract: A system and method of measuring torque generated by a drive train like that used in a rotating equipment drive. A drive motor is mounted to a rotatable brake assembly which, in turn, is coupled to a gear drive which, in turn, transmits rotational power. The brake assembly is coupled to a fixed cover of the gear drive by a gearbox torque sensor that prevents rotation between the brake assembly and the housing. The sensor can be a load cell or its equivalent. A control module may be configured to adjust operation of the rotating equipment drive in response to the torque signal. All input torque from the drive motor to the gearbox is measured when the brake is disengaged through the load cell. All input torque at the gearbox output shaft, through back-driving, is measured when the brake is engaged through the load cell.

  • Publication number: 20040044561
Abstract: A commercial vehicle customer economic value computer software tool that directs a sales representative of commercial vehicles to query and input salient information about a customer, the customer's market or application, business model, and needs. Things included in this set of queries would include the number of invoices per unit time, the revenue per load or trip and the number of breakdowns normally experienced. This also includes how many miles per trip and trips per unit time with the miles per year and servicing needs being derived numbers from this input. The program outputs a solution or set of solutions with comparisons to competitor vehicles and services. The solution is a customer economic value estimate that provides a comparison of the sales representatives' product with competitors. The program narrows the choices in the next sequential portion of the evaluation.

  • Patent number: 6464613
Abstract: A device and method for shifting the operating speed of a machine while under load. The machine includes a casing, an input and output shaft. The device includes a clutch mechanism, a primary carrier, a cluster gear, a ring gear, a first and second gear. The clutch mechanism is operably associated with the input shaft. The primary carrier is operably coupled to rotate the output shaft. The cluster gear is rotatably coupled to the primary carrier. The first gear is rotatably mounted within the casing and second gear is rotatably mounted on the first gear. The first and second gear are in mesh with the cluster gear. The cluster gear is adapted to rotate around the first and second gears on primary carrier when one of the first gear and the second gear is engaged thereby rotating the output shaft at the operating speed corresponding to the engaged gear.
