  • Patent number: 6835268
Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved method for transferring an image onto an object which has a surface that curves in two directions. After providing a source containing an image capable of thermal transfer, a target surface is chosen on the object and a chemical coating is applied. The image is then pressed into the coated target surface until the target surface is substantially flat and heated so that the image is transferred to the target surface. The coating allows the image to be transferred at a low temperature. In a preferred embodiment, after the source is removed, a second application of heat is applied to the object to drive the image into the object. A protective material may be positioned between the heating element and the image, especially before the second application of heat.

  • Patent number: 5832819
Abstract: A method for transferring an image from a color photograph onto an object having multiple curved surfaces utilizes a backing sheet to protect the object from the heat required for thermal transfer. The object is disposed in a press assembly near the backing sheet so that the image attached to the backing sheet may be aligned with the target surface on the object. Then, the backing sheet is moved toward the target surface so that the image contacts the target surface at a desired position. The backing sheet is further pressed against the object to deform the target surface until it is substantially flat. Heat applied to the backing sheet and the image then causes the pigment contained in the image to be transferred onto the target surface to create a mirror image without damaging the object. When the backing plate is removed, the object will substantially regain its original curvature.

  • Patent number: 3930646
Abstract: An amusement device simulates the game of tennis and has a miniature playing surface provided with the lines and net that characterize a tennis court. Hitting elements representing opposing players are disposed on opposite sides of the net, and a wire extends over the net and has its ends anchored near the respective elements. The wire simulates the path of a ball, and a bead is threaded on the wire to represent the ball. The two hitting elements are mounted for oscillation about upright axes, and a cam-operated spring drive alternately actuates the elements in a manner to strike the bead and propel it back and forth over the net to simulate the action in tennis.
