  • Patent number: 4351165
Abstract: A cooler having a removable coolant receptacle secured between and dividing a pair of insulated containers attached together by a hinge. The coolant receptacle closes the openings of the two containers and divides the cooler into separate compartments. The coolant receptacle extends partially into both compartments and thus provides lateral support to the cooler when their openings are closed against each other. A carrying strap is attached at its ends to one of the containers and is also releasably attachable to the other container to hold the containers together in a closed position. Another strap securing the coolant receptacle to the other container is secured to the other container by the releasable attachment means for the carrying strap. Each container has an outer shell and an inner insulation shell held within the outer shell by an inwardly extending lip at the periphery of the outer shell opening.

  • Patent number: 4162029
Abstract: A double-walled, insulated portable cooler chest having a separate, self-contained, removable, non-insulated tapered liquid container disposed adjacent one end wall of said cooler and having a lower end wall hole and a dispenser tap therethrough communicating with the exterior through the end-wall of the chest. Liquid dispenser container is blow-molded of a polyolefin polymer with special lugs disposed on each side thereof to cooperatively engage wedge-shaped retaining shoulders in the interior side walls of the chest. An interior nut is utilized to screw threadably engage an inner extension of the tap in a manner so as to simultaneously maintain the tap and the liquid container in proper positions. The liquid container is provided with a lid closure for a top opening of a sufficient size to permit a person to extend one hand into the container for the purpose of removing the nut from the tap extension to permit removal of said liquid container from the cooler chamber for cleaning purposes.

  • Patent number: 4103411
Abstract: Method and apparatus for blow molding double-walled containers from thermoplastic polymers in which the inner and outer container parts are simultaneously molded in a single tandem mold in the same molding cycle to produce special single-piece molded container intermediates. The intermediate is then cut apart along specially provided cut lines to provide a continuous inner container and a multipiece outer container in which the inner container nests. Loose, molded or batt-type insulation may be employed in annular space between the outer shell and the inner container. The outer container parts, bottom and top, are designed to snap-fit together. A carrying or pouring handle may optionally be molded into the outer shell part, or spout to the inner, or they may be added as separate pieces.
