Patent number: 9369931Abstract: A method for incorporating a moving cell in a hierarchy of cells in a wireless cellular communication network, wherein each cell is associated with a neighbor cell list comprising identification of one or more neighboring cells. The method includes determining a need for an update of one or more neighbor cell lists following relocation of the moving cell from a first location having a first set of neighboring cells to a second location having a second set of neighboring cells. A neighbor cell list is generated for the moving cell including identification of each cell in the second set of neighboring cells. The neighbor cell list is updated for each cell in the second set of neighboring cells to include the moving cell. Each radio access node serving one or more cells in the second set of neighboring cells are informed on the updated neighbor cell list.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2012Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Marten Norman, Jacob Osterling

Patent number: 9253665Abstract: It is presented a method for initializing a radio base station. The method comprises the steps, performed in the radio base station, of: obtaining location data for the radio base station; receiving a configuration message over a first communication link, the configuration message matching the location data for the radio base station and the configuration message comprising at least one connectivity parameter; and establishing, based on the at least one connectivity parameter, a connection with a core network over a second communication link, the second communication link being different from the first communication link. This means that the first communication link can be used to obtain connectivity using the configuration message intended for the radio base station with the matching location. A corresponding radio base station, computer program and computer program product are also presented.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2011Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventor: Mårten Norman

Patent number: 9144113Abstract: The invention comprises a method for migrating control plane data transport between a control node (5) and a base station (5) controlled by the control node from an old and currently used transport technology, e.g. an ATM based transport option, to a new transport technology, e.g. an IP based transport option. A protocol stack for the new transport technology is created (31) in the control node (5). In a similar manner, a protocol stack for the new transport technology is created (31) in the base station (7). Thereafter, a connection based on the new transport technology is formed (33) between the control node and the base station. Then the new transport technology is used (39) on the formed connection for at least one new control plane message between the control node to the base station.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2008Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Marten Norman, Tarmo Kuningas

Publication number: 20140106828Abstract: Method and arrangement in a network node for preparing powering down of a first module of a controlling part comprised in the network node, wherein the network node also comprises a radio transceiving part, and wherein the controlling part is configured to run processes for controlling radio transmission over the radio transceiving part, which controlling part further comprises a second module. The method comprises determining to power down the first module. Also, the method comprises identifying a process in the first module that is utilized for controlling radio transmission over a common channel in the radio transceiving part. Further, the method comprises mirroring the identified process in the first module over to the second module of the controlling part. In addition the method comprises switching to control the radio transmission over the common channel in the radio transceiving part from the mirrored process running on the second module.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2011Publication date: April 17, 2014Inventors: Mårten Norman, Annie Söderlund

Patent number: 8625428Abstract: The present invention relates to switching technology, such Ethernet, where data switching is performed based on a collision-prone switching table (31). The invention provides a possibility to avoid difficult collision-caused flooding and makes it possible to use simple and inexpensive switching equipment, while still not having to worry about consequences of collision-caused flooding. A preferred destination list (43) is provided. This list identifies one or more preferred switching destinations (1, 11). For each preferred destination, a switching address and a corresponding port identification is obtained (53). An order (55) is then made to enter and lock the obtained switching address and corresponding port identification into the switching table (31).Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2008Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Mårten Norman

Publication number: 20130203405Abstract: A radio base station for performing radio communication functions includes a human-readable, semi-persistent overlay fixed to a surface of the radio base station. A nonvolatile memory stores a current operational state of the radio base station. The human-readable, semi-persistent overlay indicates at least with text characters or symbols on the current state. If the current state of the radio base station changes, then the text characters or symbols on the human-readable, semi-persistent overlay are updated to reflect the changed state. The indication of the changed radio base station state on the human-readable, semi-persistent overlay remains human-readable even if the radio base station is powered-down.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2012Publication date: August 8, 2013Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget LMInventors: Mårten NORMAN, Marie Sparr

Publication number: 20070297492Abstract: A transmitter (20) for a code division multiple access radio access network intelligently preconditions a channel-merged signal which is applied to its amplifier (22) so that the amplifier does not experience, e.g., precipitous power changes. The transmitter (20) comprises an amplifier (22) for amplifying the channel-merged signal at a signal output power; a detector (24) for performing detection of when output power of the channel-merged signal is about to change by a specified amount; and, a noise inserter (26) for adding a noise signal to the channel-merged signal in dependence upon the detection. Insertion of the noise smoothes an edge of the power change curve and thereby averts stress for the amplifier.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2006Publication date: December 27, 2007Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Marten Norman, Thomas Ostman, Bo Hagerman
