Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring the occupancy of at least one transmission spectrum for a multicarrier radiofrequency signal communication system, wherein the method comprises slicing the spectrum into subsets of carriers and of time slicing within the subsets to form elementary time/frequency segments, signal non-transmission, by at least one transmission equipment item of the system, during elementary non-transmission segments mutually shifted over time and in frequency, and measuring chosen parameters of signals conveyed in the transmission spectrum during each of these elementary non-transmission segments.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for reducing the dead zones within a third generation mobile telecommunication system (UMTS). When a mobile station (MS) communicating with a service base station (BS1) generates a dead zone on at least one uplink of a next base station (BS2), criteria are determined, according to the invention, based on parameters regarding the uplink and/or downlink between the mobile station (MS) and the base station (BS1) which, if they are not complied with for the uplink and/or downlink, trigger a radio link interruption in the mobile station (MS). When the power transmitted on the uplink becomes zero, the degradation in the radio coverage of the cell associated with the next base station (BS2) due to the mobile station (MS) disappears.

Abstract: A method and a system of reducing the dead zones in a third-generation mobile telecommunication system (UMTS). When a mobile station MS in communication with a base station BS1 gives rise to dead zones on the uplinks of a base station BS2, then according to the invention, criteria on the uplink and/or the downlink between the mobile station MS and the base station BS1 are defined which, if one or other of the two are not complied with, triggers a procedure of radio link failure in the mobile station MS. The communication between the mobile station MS and the base station BS1 is then released. The power transmitted on the uplink by the mobile station MS then becomes zero and the degradation of the radio coverage of the cell of the base station BS2 due to the mobile station MS disappears.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for selecting a combination of transport formats for a composite channel comprising at least two transport channels in a mobile station. The invention finds its application most particularly in third-generation mobile telecommunication systems (UMTS). To prevent the quality of service of certain applications from being considerably degraded when combinations of transport formats become temporarily invalid, there is provision to select according to the invention a combination of transport formats making it possible to guarantee a minimum bit rate for each logical channel of the mobile station.

Abstract: The invention relates to a radio communication system for enabling radio frames to be transmitted between terminals and radio base stations which are such a distance apart that a transmission delay between the terminals and the stations is smaller than a certain limit. According to the invention, when a radio base station is unlocked, a DC component of a received signal is estimated during a whole interval in which a preamble word may be received. In the locked state, an estimation will take place only during the preamble word.

Abstract: A radio communication system comprises at least a base station which is remote from a concentrator to which it is linked by a channel. The base station is intended to exchange via a radio link, at a first rate, radio frames with terminals while the radio frames are multiplexed on a channel frame to be transported by the channel at a second rate. In accordance with the invention, multiplexing is effected to minimize a resulting delay, to maximize a permitted transmission delay and thus maximize the range of base stations.
