  • Patent number: 8545500
Abstract: A fixation assembly and methods for its use are provided. The fixation assembly includes two or more fixation elements, at least one connection means adapted to engage with the fixation elements to connect them to one another, and a locking means that is actuated after engagement of the fixation elements with the connection means to simultaneously lock the fixation elements in place relative to one another and to the connection means.

  • Publication number: 20050203511
Abstract: An implantable, temporospatially dynamic, rachiorthotic orthopaedics device comprising: a unidirectional force generating means for generating a unidirectional force which acts over a range of deflection of said unidirectional force generating means; a first attachment means for attaching said unidirectional force generating means to a first vertebra; and a second attachment means for attaching said unidirectional force generating means to a second vertebra; wherein said unidirectional force is applied by said unidirectional force generating means via said first and second attachment means to said first and second vertebrae such that said first vertebra and said second vertebra are urged, over a period of time (which period of time extends beyond the end of a medical procedure to implant said orthopaedics device) and over a range of rotational, axial and/or flexional/extensional motion, towards a predetermined desired spatial relationship with respect to one another, whereby, over said period of time, said un

  • Patent number: 6395015
Abstract: A temporary intravascular arteriotomy seal for insertion into and retrieval from a blood vessel through an opening in the wall of the vessel. The seal comprises a thin flexible sheet material. According to one embodiment, in an untensioned state, the seal is curved and foldable in the width direction. It is adapted to be folded in the width direction upon exertion for a force on the gripping element directed in the length direction, and upon contacting of the sheet material by the sides of the opening in the vessel wall. By use of the sealing device, arterial by-pass grafting in a briefly-occlusive or non-occlusive end-to-side or side-to-side anastomosis technique is possible with virtually no obstruction to flow, little endothelial denudation and otherwise no wall damage by the intravascular device, and without blocking of side branches.
