  • Publication number: 20110128837
Abstract: Methods and devices or writing an optical record carrier, in which a mark representing recorded data is written in a phase-change layer of a record carrier by a sequence of radiation pulses. A rear heating pulse is introduced after a last write pulse and a front heating pulse is introduced before the first write pulse. The power level of the front heating pulse and the power level of the rear heating pulse may be dependent on the length of the mark to be recorded and on properties of the record carrier.

  • Patent number: 7940623
Abstract: Methods and devices are described for writing to an optical record carrier, in which a mark representing recorded data is written in a phase-change layer of a record carrier by a sequence of radiation pulses. A rear heating pulse is introduced after a last write pulse and a front heating pulse is introduced before the first write pulse. The power level of the front heating pulse and the power level of the rear heating pulse may be dependent on the length of the mark to be recorded and on properties of the record carrier. The method results in a reduced jitter of the marks written, especially when writing at high recording speeds.

  • Patent number: 7359297
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for recording an information signal 10 in a phase change layer of a recording medium. A mark is recorded by a sequence 13 of write pulses and previous marks between the marks to be recorded are erased by a sequence of erase pulses 14. De bias power level 191, 192 between the erase pulses is made dependent on the recording speed, thus obtaining low jitter of the recorded marks and at the same time preventing thermal cross write during erase.
