  • Publication number: 20210128343
Abstract: The present invention relates to a buccal valve, suitable for modifying the respiratory flow of a user, comprising a valve body, adapted to be arranged between the dental arches of the user, wherein said valve body comprises one or more airflow passages therethrough; and one or more valve flaps configured to be connected to the valve body. Advantageously, the valve body and the valve flaps are arranged so that, when the buccal valve is installed in the buccal cavity of the user, the one or more valve flaps are positioned in the buccal cavity proper and exposed to direct contact with the tongue of the user. Also, the valve flaps are adapted to regulate the flow rate and direction of the airflow entering the buccal cavity proper, through the airflow passages, towards the palate, the dental arch, or the sublingual areas of the buccal anatomy depending on the position of the tongue.

  • Patent number: 7510144
Abstract: A fairing for streamlining the junction between the horizontal stabilizer and the fuselage or the fin of an aircraft, comprising an upper fairing shell, a lower fairing shell, a leading edge extension, and several fittings to join the upper and lower fairing shells to the horizontal stabilizer. The upper and lower fairing shells are solid laminates of composite material that are designed with a shape, composition, and thickness such that they can be elastically deformed when they are fitted to the horizontal stabilizer, providing a contact force permitting them to lay permanently in contact with the fuselage or fin. A process for manufacturing the fairing shells.

  • Patent number: 4810259
Abstract: A coal aqueous slurry having a lower viscosity and resistance to thickening with time is provided. The coal aqueous slurry includes water, particulate coal comprising carbonaceous material and water-soluble minerals, a surfactant present in the coal aqueous slurry in an amount sufficient to disperse the particulate coal in the water and a chelating agent. The included chelating agent is capable of forming a chelation complex with the metal ions formed by the water-soluble minerals dissolving into the water. The presence of the chelating, or complexing, agent reduces coagulation of the coal particles, because the chelating agent complexes soluble mineral matter and thereby prevents collapse of the protective water layer surrounding the coal particles.

  • Patent number: 4390365
Abstract: The instant invention relates to a process for the preparation of titanium metal from an ore comprising titanium oxides which process comprises the steps of fluorinating the ore to convert the titanium oxides to titanium fluorides and then reducing the titanium fluorides to the metal. Such reduction may be carried out by contacting the titanium fluorides as a molten salt mixture with a molten alloy of zinc and aluminum at conditions whereby titanium is converted into a titanium-zinc alloy and the aluminum is converted into fluorides of aluminum. The titanium zinc alloy is separated from the fluorides of aluminum and the zinc is distilled from the alloy to leave behind titanium sponge. The ore may be an ilmenite ore and the fluorination may be carried out by contacting said ilmenite ore with a fluosilicate salt such as sodium fluosilicate.

  • Patent number: 4359449
Abstract: The instant invention relates to a process for the preparation of titanium dioxide from an ore comprising titanium oxides which comprises the steps of fluorinating said ore to convert the titanium oxides to titanium fluorides; and, contacting said titanium fluorides with an alkaline material at conditions whereby said titanium fluorides are converted to titanium dioxide. The ore may be an ilmenite ore and the fluorination may be carried out by contacting said ilmenite ore with a fluosilicate salt as sodium fluosilicate.

  • Patent number: 4173687
Abstract: Anodes for current generating cells having good corrosion resistance, voltage stability and long life, especially in primary current generating cells, are described. The anodes comprise an anode composition having from about 20 to about 90 weight percent of the first constituent selected from the group consisting of iron and silicon and at least about 10 weight percent of a second constituent different from the first constituent and selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, niobium, titanium, phosphorus, and silicon. Anode compositions containing iron and a second constituent other than silicon may also contain up to about 10 weight percent silicon.
