  • Publication number: 20110179860
Abstract: An apparatus for determining and/or monitoring at least one process variable of a medium. The apparatus includes: at least one mechanically oscillatable unit; at least one transducer unit, which excites the mechanically oscillatable unit to mechanical oscillations based on an exciter signal and which receives the mechanical oscillations of the mechanically oscillatable unit and converts such to a received signal. The transducer unit has at least one piezoelectric element. The apparatus further includes: at least one electronics unit, which supplies the transducer unit with the exciter signal and which receives the received signal from the transducer unit; and at least one compensation element, which supplies the exciter signal to the electronics unit and from which the electronics unit receives a compensation signal. The invention provides that the compensation element has at least one at least element made at least partially of a piezoelectric material.

  • Publication number: 20100236323
Abstract: A method for determining and/or monitoring the viscosity of a medium, wherein a mechanically oscillatable unit is excited to execute oscillations based on an exciter signal, and wherein oscillations are received from the mechanically oscillatable unit and transduced into a received signal. The eigenfrequency and/or resonance frequency of the mechanically oscillatable unit and/or phase relationship between the exciter signal and the received signal are/is ascertained and/or monitored, and, from changes in the eigenfrequency and/or resonance frequency and/or phase relationship, a change in viscosity is deduced and/or, based on dependencies of the oscillations on the viscosity of the medium, from the eigenfrequency and/or resonance frequency and/or phase relationship, viscosity is ascertained. In a second variant of the method, decay behavior of the mechanically oscillatable unit is evaluated. An apparatus for determining and/or monitoring viscosity is also presented.

  • Patent number: 7541452
Abstract: The abundance of the 96 most abundant EST cluster sequences in a wheat lemma/palea cDNA library was investigated in a range of cDNA libraries made from various wheat tissues. 30 cDNA sequences showing highly enhanced abundance in lemma, palea and glume tissues over leaf, stem, embryo, endosperm and root tissue were selected for further analysis. These wheat EST cluster sequences were used to identify rice cDNA homologs. The abundance of the rice cDNA homologs was compared in rice leaf and panicle (includes lemma and palea) cDNA libraries. Rice cDNAs showing preferential expression in the panicle were then used to identify homologous rice genomic DNA clones, the putative promoter sequences have been identified and cloned.

  • Patent number: 5588817
Abstract: This invention is directed to a closing member of an inlet valve of a pressure-medium-traversed piston of a reciprocating piston pump. The closing member is disposed as fully as possible in the piston to minimize the dead air space. The piston has a longitudinal bore in which a stem engages the closing member, which stem emanates from a valve disk. The stem is embraced by an at least approximately frustoconical helical compression spring acting as a closing spring. This is held, with an end segment of smaller diameter, non-twistably against the stem. A shoulder of the longitudinal bore is located on the valve seat side and exhibits at least one cross-sectional alteration for the screw-like action upon the end segment of larger diameter of the closing spring. The closing spring is thus able to be sunk into the longitudinal bore and biased in place. The reciprocating piston pump can be used, for example, for slip-regulated braking systems of motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 3955939
Abstract: A water-free mixture of isopropyl alcohol, diisopropyl alcohol, diisopropyl ether and by-products is made by the catalytic hydration of propylene in the gaseous phase at temperatures of 140.degree.-170.degree.C under pressures of 25-40 atmospheres gauge. A water-to-propylene molar ratio of 0.1 to 0.25:1 is maintained in the hydration reaction. The crude product from the hydration reaction is dehydrated or dewatered in two columns without using a foreign withdrawing agent. Instead, diiosopropyl ether formed in the process itself is utilized as the withdrawing agent which is subsequently added to the water-free mixture together with additionally formed by-products. The water-free mixture formed according to the process can be used directly as an additive to gasoline fuel for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 3953533
Abstract: Olefins having two and three carbon atoms are hydrated in the presence of phosphoric acid-containing supported catalysts to the corresponding alcohols. For the hydration of olefins having two carbon atoms, the molar ratio of water to olefin is in the range of about 0.1-0.3 : 1, the reaction temperatures in the range of about 190.degree.-230.degree.C, and the reaction pressure is in the range of about 60-80 atmospheres gauge. For the hydration of olefins having three carbon atoms, the molar ratio of water to olefin is in the range of about 0.1-0.3 : 1, the reaction temperatures in the range of about 140.degree.-170.degree.C and the reaction pressure is in the range of about 20-45 atmospheres gauge. The only by-products which form in addition to the raw alcohol under these conditions are steam-volatile (water soluble) by-products which are separated from the raw alcohol in a washing extraction zone.
