Patent number: 11594989Abstract: A rotary current machine system and method for controlling an electric rotary current machine, in particular an induction machine, having a rotor, a stator and at least two phase windings is disclosed. At least one electrical signal, in particular a voltage signal, is applied to at least one phase winding, preferably all phase windings, of the rotary current machine, and the current waveform in the at least one phase winding is measured. An intermodulation signal component, induced in the rotary current machine by slotting effects and magnetic saturation effects, which is determined from the current waveform measured in the at least one phase winding, is used for controlling the rotary current machine.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2021Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Inventors: Thomas Wolbank, Markus Vogelsberger, Martin Bazant

Patent number: 11427228Abstract: A monorail vehicle includes two bogie assemblies supporting different ends of a chassis. Each bogie assembly includes guide wheels rotatably connected to a bogie frame, a wheel assembly for rolling along a top of a guide beam, and a drive unit. The drive unit includes an electric motor attached to the bogie frame via a mounting flange that is located within a first lateral half of the body, a brake unit, and a planetary gear assembly coupled to a rotor of the electric motor. The planetary gear assembly is located on a first side of the electric motor and the wheel assembly is mounted to an output of the planetary gear assembly. The drive unit is attached whereupon the wheel assembly may be dismounted from the drive unit in a direction of a second lateral half of the body without dismounting the drive unit from the bogie frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2019Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: Bombardier Transportation GmbHInventors: Peter Edward Timan, Hans Peter Trotsch, Martin Bazant, Daniel Martinez-Anon-Perez, Alexander Bauer

Patent number: 10468999Abstract: Method for detecting load differences between at least one first electrical machine and at least one second electrical machine connected in parallel thereto, which are fed by an inverter, wherein the machines each are connected to the inverter via three supply lines and in two supply lines of the at least one first machine and in one of the supply lines of the at least one second machine, the currents are measured with the aid of current measuring sensors in the respective supply lines and, on the basis of the measured current values of the at least one first machine, the corresponding unmeasured currents of the at least one second machine are estimated, and the estimated total current of the supply lines of the at least one second machine is detected as a measure of deviation of the currents of the at least one second machine from the at least one first machine.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2018Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: BOMBARDIER TRANSPORTATION GMBHInventors: Thomas Wolbank, Martin Bazant, Markus Vogelsberger

Publication number: 20060050835Abstract: A guide ring is positioned in the reactor core vessel of a pebble-bed nuclear reactor to segregate fuel pebbles and reflector pebbles fed into the vessel through respective conduits. The reflector pebbles pass through the guide ring and form a reflector column, while the fuel pebbles pass outside the guide ring and form an annular fuel column surrounding the reflector column. The guide ring controls the size and shape of the reflector column and controls mixing of the two types of pebbles. Furthermore, the fuel pebbles can have a substantially larger diameter than the reflector pebbles. Accordingly, the fuel-pebble column will have more void space, and cooling gas will consequently flow preferentially through the fuel-pebble column.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2004Publication date: March 9, 2006Inventor: Martin Bazant
