  • Patent number: 6079469
Abstract: A transverse sealing device in a tubular bag forming machine that has two sealing jaws with flat sealing faces disposed in an interstice between two pairs of clamping jaws, and also has a severing knife for longitudinally dividing the crosswise seam made by the sealing jaws. In order to remove the severing knife from the thermal influence of the sealing jaws, the severing knife is disposed and is movable separately from the sealing jaws and in a position of repose is located outside the range of motion of the sealing jaws. To that end, an aperture is provided in one of the clamping jaws for receiving the severing knife in the position of repose, and an arm supports the severing knife and also protrudes through the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5566601
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting away containers, arranged in rows in a foil web having support platforms, which are rotatable perpendicular to the conveying direction and are surrounded by receptacles of a vertically movable die. To cut the containers away from the foil web, the die cooperates with a likewise vertically movable cutting knife. The support platforms have support faces, which have two different extensions offset from one another. If the support platforms are rotated with the die in the lowered position, then their maximal extensions form a gapless conveyor path for the containers, so that they can be removed from the apparatus without the danger of canting in the interstices between the support platforms.

  • Patent number: 5527341
Abstract: The device is implantable in the living body for attachment and augmentation of tendons and/or reinforcement of bones. It comprises a substantially flat membrane having a rounded outer shape and at least two perforations. The membrane contains resorbable or degradable polymeric and/or polymeric-ceramic material, having a Young's modulus in the range of 1 to 50 GPa and a tensile strength in the range of 0.1 to 20.0 GPa. It allows a more secure fixation of transosseous sutures.

  • Patent number: 4375768
Abstract: An electronic circuit for processing measured values obtained from a vortex sequence produced by a Karman vortex path, wherein the ultrasonically sensed signals are processed both digitally in a first circuit branch for a computer and analogously in a second circuit branch for the connection of a two-channel continuous recorder. An adjustable frequency transforming arrangement is serially connected in the computer branch for balancing the circuit, and an additional frequency-voltage converter and and integrator are serially connected in the recorder branch along with a control logic circuit inserted between the two branches for starting the recorder after activation of the computer only when signals which can be evaluated are present.

  • Patent number: 4276603
Abstract: An automatic microprocessor-based control system for a diffusion furnace in which the controller is dedicated to a single associated diffusion tube to provide all monitoring and control functions necessary for a variety of diffusion processes. The controller provides direct digital control of time, temperature and gas flow, and can be readily operated with a variety of control algorithms.

  • Patent number: 3935904
Abstract: A method and apparatus for harvesting and stacking sod is disclosed. A reciprocating cutter bar cuts strips of sod while a vertically moveable blade cuts these strips into blocks of the desired length. The blocks of sod are guided onto an inclined conveyor which carries them to the top of a sod stacker having a plurality of normally closed trap doors. The blocks of sod are guided onto the stacker in alignment with the trap doors and are moved across the upper surfaces of the doors by means of sod advancing chains until they are in position to be stacked. A trip mechanism responds to the position of the sod blocks to release the trap doors, causing the blocks to drop downwardly through the doors onto a pallet supported on a fork lift immediately below the trap doors. As the sod falls through the trap doors, a hydraulic lift recloses them for receipt of the next block.
