  • Patent number: 9826870
Abstract: A robotic vacuum cleaner for autonomously cleaning surfaces. The robotic vacuum cleaner comprises an appliance housing and a side arm. The side arm is movably mounted on the appliance housing. A brush element is disposed on the side arm. The side arm projects, in a first position, in front of the appliance housing in part and, in a second position, is received by the appliance housing. The side arm comprising a first arm element having a first end and a second end. The first arm element is movably mounted in the appliance housing at the first end. The side arm comprises a second arm element having a first end and a second end. The second arm element is movably mounted in the appliance housing at the first end and is movably connected to the second end of the first arm element at the second end.

  • Patent number: 8042222
Abstract: A vacuum attachment for a vacuum cleaner including a housing having a vacuum channel. A roller is rotatably and displaceably disposed in a region of the vacuum channel and driveable during a vacuuming operation. The roller includes at least one of bristles and baffle walls configured to be in partial contact with a floor covering during the vacuuming operation. At least one roller magnet is disposed on the roller at least one end thereof. At least one housing magnet is non-rotatably disposed on the housing axially adjacent to the at least one roller magnet and configured to interact with the at least one roller magnet so as to alternately at least one of attract and repel the roller so that the roller performs an oscillatory motion as it rotates.

  • Publication number: 20100269857
Abstract: A method for operating an attachment device for a vacuum cleaner includes an electrically rotatable brush roller and a motor for driving the brush roller. The method includes rotating the brush roller in a normal operational direction during operation. The method further includes rotating the brush roller in a reverse direction opposite to the normal operational direction of rotation, when the brush roller is detected to be jammed.

  • Publication number: 20100236019
Abstract: A nozzle for a floor care appliance for cleaning surfaces. The nozzle includes a gliding sole disposed on a bottom side of the floor nozzle and has a suction mouth opening. A suction duct extends from the opening to a connection piece. A front suction mouth edge and a rear suction mouth edge bound the suction mouth with respect to a pushing direction of the floor nozzle. A rear pivot limit stop associated with the rear suction mouth edge and a front pivot limit stop associated with the rear suction mouth edge are included. The rear suction mouth edge projects beyond a plane of contact of the nozzle with the surface when the rear suction mouth edge engages the front pivot limit stop and when the floor nozzle is in a non-contacting position.
