  • Publication number: 20240167186
Abstract: To improve adhesion of Cr(VI)-free primers and suitable topcoats on aircraft parts, a method for anodizing part surface of the aircraft part that includes aluminum or an aluminum alloy including the steps of cleaning the part and exposing the part to an anodizing electrolyte. During anodizing it is essential that the temperature of the anodizing electrolyte is maintained at a constant temperature chosen from a range from 42° C. to 60° C.

  • Patent number: 8771800
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a chemical conversion layer on a metal surface, comprising the following method steps: (i) providing at least one cloth having a defined area, which is resistant at least in the pH range from 2 to 7 and is tear-proof in the wet state, (ii) bringing the cloth into contact with a liquid, which contains at least one active component for the formation of the chemical conversion layer, so that the cloth is impregnated with the liquid, (iii), applying the cloth impregnated with the liquid to a metal surface, and (iv) removing the cloth from the metal surface at a moment at which the cloth is still at least damp.

  • Publication number: 20140011020
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for promoting the adhesion of a surface of a titanium material (5). In order to enable improved, in particular environmentally friendly, adhesion promotion of the surface, an adhesion promoting layer is applied, which comprises nanotubes (13) that include titanium dioxide (TiO2) and have diameters of 10 to 300 nm. The method also comprises applying an organic material to the adhesion promoting layer (11) with good adhesion.

  • Publication number: 20050150771
Abstract: Structural components made of aluminum and aluminum alloys are anodized in two sequential steps in two different electrolytes. The first electrolyte is a mixed acid of two inorganic acids such as a phosphoric-sulfuric acid mixture. The second electrolyte is a further acid mixture of an organic acid and an inorganic acid to form a tartaric sulfuric acid mixture. The two sequential anodizing steps result in a surface texture that has three excellent surface characteristics simultaneously, namely: a corrosion resistance, a coating acceptance for lacquer coatings and an adhesive bonding with other aluminum material components.
