  • Patent number: 11848557
Abstract: A power restoration system comprising a feeder, a plurality of power sources available to provide power to the feeder, a plurality of normally closed reclosing devices electrically coupled along the feeder, at least one normally open recloser electrically coupled to the feeder, and a plurality of normally closed switches electrically coupled along the feeder between each adjacent pairs of normally closed reclosing devices. Each switch is assigned a position code having a value for each of the plurality of power sources that determines when the switch will open in response to the fault current and which power source the switch is currently receiving power from, where timing control between the reclosing devices and the switches allows the switch to be selectively opened to isolate the fault within a single feeder section between each pair of adjacent switches or between each switch and a reclosing device.

  • Patent number: 11329479
Abstract: A control system and method for sectionalizing switches and pulse-testing interrupter/reclosers in a distribution grid feeder which enables fault location, isolation and service restoration without requiring an external communications infrastructure to pass information between the switches. The method includes switches entering an armed state when they experience a high fault current during an initial fault event. Then, when the interrupter/recloser runs its test pulse sequence, any armed switch counts all test pulses as fault pulses, while non-armed switches count the test pulses as load pulses. Switches open to isolate the fault based on threshold values of fault pulse count and load pulse count. When an initially active interrupter/recloser completes its test pulse sequence, another interrupter/recloser begins its sequence, and all switches reconfigure their threshold values based on the new interrupter/recloser.

  • Publication number: 20210091558
Abstract: A control system and method for sectionalizing switches and a source interrupter/recloser in a feeder, or portion of the distribution grid, which enables fault location, isolation and service restoration without requiring a communications infrastructure and communications equipment at the switches. The method includes each switch adaptively configuring fault-count, load-count and voltage-count thresholds upon which the switch should open. The thresholds for each switch are based on the switch's proximity to the active feeder source, which requires a determination of which source is powering the feeder at a particular time. Five different methods are disclosed to determine which source is active. When a fault is detected, the source interrupter/recloser opens and then begins a pulse testing or reclosing sequence, where the switches open to isolate the fault when reaching their fault-count or voltage-count threshold.

  • Publication number: 20200194200
Abstract: A method for detecting a vacuum leak in a vacuum interrupter-based switching device. The method monitors current conduction across the contacts when they are open after a predetermined delay. The method detects current conduction across the contacts and adds a current conduction timer unit that accumulates current conduction time to an accumulated total current conduction time value if a magnitude of the detected current conduction exceeds a predetermined current value. The method reduces the accumulated total current conduction time value a certain variable or constant percentage of a predetermined timer value over a settable reset time if current conduction is not detected, and provides an indication if the accumulated total current conduction time value exceeds a predetermined current conduction time threshold.

  • Patent number: 10376405
Abstract: The Bishop Traction Splint Device (BTSD) is a traction device for applying traction to a fractured leg. The device includes a frame for securing both legs in order to allow the uninjured leg to help splint the injured leg. A ratchet assembly located on a distal end of the frame is attached to an ankle brace on the injured leg to apply the traction force. Shoulder straps, an abdominal strap, and leg straps are used to secure the patient. A tripod assembly can also be sued to elevate both legs of the patient, placing the patient in a shock position to aid with any drop in blood pressure.

  • Publication number: 20170273817
Abstract: Usage of the Original Device Broken Down: The original device was created to stabilize a unilateral (one leg) closed mid shaft femur fracture by the use of held in place mechanical traction. The device has parallel telescoping rails, made from the frame itself, these rails allow the device to be adjusted and size appropriate for all heights of patients requiring this device. These rails lock in the position the medical provider deems correct. To start the application process, a medically trained individual must first apply an ankle brace (if no ankle fracture is present) to the injured leg, this brace has a loop attached to the bottom of it (this loop is used later), the provider will then pull manual traction using the ankle of the injured leg in a directional manner meant to realign the broken femur to its normal position prior to the break. The goal is to stretch the shortened injured leg until it meets the length of the non-injured leg.

  • Publication number: 20050016437
Abstract: A water craft having a support arranged to float on water with a central axis arranged to lie generally perpendicular to the surface of the water. The support has a number of rowing positions arranged around the axis at or near the periphery of the support. Rowers in the rowing positions propel the craft around the central axis using oars. The craft is useful for training oarsmen.

  • Publication number: 20040095507
Abstract: An apparatus and method for capturing, processing still images, captured inline from an analog video stream, and storing in a digital format on removable non-volatile memory using an S-video or composite video interface to most medical modalities, including, ultrasound machines, intra-oral cameras, endoscopic cameras, or any device with analog video output. The apparatus provides a Menu Driven/Front Panel Control User Interface with on-screen messages providing the ability to review of images via unique On-Screen display. The apparatus utilizes on-board local memory with the ability to store images on multiple specialized non-volatile memory drives that can be equipped with unique embedded security key facilitating the storage, manipulation, and distribution of images. A preferred embodiment includes the capturing of images from live video to removable non-volatile memory formats utilizing the apparatus's video inputs without need of personal computer, and without the need for a computer bus interface.

  • Patent number: 4014598
Abstract: A free standing component cabinet capable of being rapidly reconverted to allow rack mounting thereof. The cabinet comprises a frame normally used for rack mounting which frame includes front rear and side walls and front mounting flanges having holes therein for securing the frame when mounted in a rack. Detachable top and bottom panels enclose the frame. Detachable face plates are mounted one on each of the side walls and abut the front mounting flange. These face plates provide an air duct to allow air to pass from the frame interior to the rear of the cabinet via a vent hole provided in at least one of the side plates. A fan assists the passage of air through the cabinet.
