  • Patent number: 9532153
Abstract: A method and system for providing information to a user positioned in a room with two independent listening areas where, in one area, an audio signal is output compensating for the sound from the other area, and where a position between the two areas is indicated to a user. When the user moves about, the position and size of one listening area may change, and the user may be made aware of any conflict with the other listening area. The areas may be defined by boundaries where a compensation quality is at a threshold quality.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 29, 2013
Date of Patent: December 27, 2016
    Assignee: BANG & OLUFSEN A/S
Inventors: Martin Olsen, Martin Bo Møller, Søren Borup Jensen
  • Patent number: 9392390
Abstract: A method of applying a combined control strategy for the reproduction of multichannel audio signals in two or more sound zones, the method comprising deriving a first cost function for controlling the acoustic potential energy, such as on the basis of the Acoustic Contrast Control method and/or the Energy Difference Maximation method, in the zones to obtain acoustic separation between the zones in terms of sound pressure, deriving a second cost function, such as the Pressure Matching method, controlling the phase of the sound provided in the zones, and where a weight is obtained for determining a combination of the first and second cost functions in a combined optimization.

  • Publication number: 20130058505
Abstract: The invention relates to a sound-emitting device with controllable directivity comprising a plurality of sound sources (7) distributed over the surface of a body 5, each of said sound sources (7) being driven by a separate power amplifier (12), the input terminal of which is provided with the output signal from a corresponding filter (10), such that the frequency response of each individual sound source (7) can be controlled, where each filter (10) is provided with an input signal (11) corresponding to a plurality of input channels Ch1, Ch2 . . . ChN. The body (5) could according to one embodiment of the invention comprise a cylindrical body provided with end pieces (6) at either longitudinal end. The present invention furthermore relates to a method for controlling the individual sound sources of the sound-emitting device in order to obtain a given target directivity.
