  • Patent number: 5205576
Abstract: A sideways releasable jaw of a ski binding for holding one end of the ski boot (9) has a binding housing (11) in which a release spring (14) is arranged The release spring (14) extends substantially in the longitudinal direction of the ski and is braced at one end against the binding housing (11). At its other end it exerts a release force with a substantial component in the longitudinal direction of the ski pointing away from the ski boot (9) on a sole clamp (22) arranged towards the ski boot (9). On exceeding a predetermined sideways force exerted by the ski boot (9) the sole clamp (22) can pivot sideways about a substantially upright pivotal axis and releases the ski boot (9). In so doing the release spring exerts a downwardly directed force component on the sole clamp which is vertically displaceably arranged on the binding housing (11) for movement along an upright sliding guide. Thus the sole clamp (22) is pressed against the upper side of the sole (29) of the ski boot.

  • Patent number: 5180183
Abstract: A releasable ski binding is provided with a boot holder which can be swivelled around a vertical shaft and is pushed into a normal ski boot holding position by a piston. At its end facing the boot holder, the piston is arranged to be slidable into the transverse direction with play, and at its other end, the piston is arranged to be slidable in a guide almost without play. Thus, swivel motions of the boot holder can take place largely without friction between the boot holder and the piston parts which rest against it. At the same time, the normal position is defined virtually without play.

  • Patent number: 5176397
Abstract: A heel unit of a ski binding has a housing (12) which is resiliently rearwardly deflectably mounted on the ski. A sole clamp (13) having a hold-down member (13') and a pedal element (13"), and also a hand-opening lever (15) are pivotably mounted about a transverse axis (14) in each case. The sole clamp (13) is biased by a release spring (16) into a closed position via a transmission (17, 18) having a deadpoint (26'). The sole clamp (13) can snap into an open position under the action of excessive vertical forces by moving through the deadpoint (26). The sole clamp (13) and the hand-opening lever (15) are pivotally mounted about the same transverse axis (14) which is arranged in the front region of the housing (12). Actuating abutments (19, 20) which cooperate with one another are provided at a radial distance from the transverse axis (14) and an opening moment is transmitted from the hand-opening lever (15 ) onto the sole clamp (13) via these actuating abutments.

  • Patent number: 5114174
Abstract: A ski binding is disclosed for supporting a ski boot in the downward direction by a plate-type bearing part which is arranged on a ski. The bearing support is supported at the ski so as to be displaceable in the transverse direction of the ski in response to predetermined forces during skiing. In the case of a displacement of the bearing support from a center position it takes up an increasing oblique position with a gradient in the displacement direction to thereby accommodate ski boot movements.

  • Patent number: 5024457
Abstract: In a safety ski binding with a heel unit which includes a bearing housing (11), a sole holder (13), a hand opening lever (15) and a release spring (16), an actuating abutment (22) is arranged on the sole holder (13) at a distance (A) from the first transverse axle (12) which is substantially smaller than the distance (B) of the culmination point from the first transverse axle (12). Moreover, a counter-abutment (23) which cooperates with the actuating abutment (22) is provided on the hand opening lever (15), with one of the two abutments (22, 23) being made resiliently yielding. Through cooperation of the two abutments (22, 23) the sole holder (13) pivots at a higher speed than the hand opening lever (15) into its open position. As a result the horizontal sliding section (32) enters into engagement again with the latch projection (17) shortly before reaching the culmination point (21), so that the further pivoting is only possible under compression of the resilient abutment.

  • Patent number: 5020823
Abstract: A binding coupled ski boot shaft delatching device is described in which the pivotable shaft 12 of the boot can be latched with the lower part 14 of the boot via a latching lever 20. The latching lever 20 is pivotable inwardly into a latching position by a sole clamp 64 against a spring force 34. In this way a falsification of the preset release characteristic of the sole clamp through possible interference of the shaft delatching device with the binding is precluded.

  • Patent number: 5007657
Abstract: Laterally releasable binding unit for holding the front end of a ski boot (12) including a base part (30) mounted on the ski (22), a release spring arranged longitudinally on the ski and an integral sole clamp (29) having two limbs (14) and a hold down clamp (15). The base part is a carrier spigot vertically tiltably mounted about a transverse axis (36). The sole clamp is rotatably arranged on the upright carrier spigot. A draw rod (38) passes through a slide bore (37') in a ball guide (37) within the carrier spigot and abuts, via a support disc (39) secured to the draw rod at its rear, a substantially flat rear support surface (40) of the carrier spigot. The rear end of the release spring is braced against an abutment (42) fixed to the sole clamp and thus presses the abutment against the front support surface (31) of the carrier spigot.

  • Patent number: 4516792
Abstract: A laterally releasable toe unit has two laterally pivotable side jaws (11) which are held in a ski boot retaining position by a yoke (26) on which a release spring (30) acts and which can be pivoted laterally while pushing the yoke rearwardly against the spring force to release the ski boot. A toe plate (15) which is movable by a small amount in a vertical direction is arranged behind a laterally fixed toe restrainer (13) and generates, via a force deflection transmission, a longitudinal force which is dependent on the contact force which acts on the toe and which counteracts the spring force via a bar member (12). At least one lever (14) which is acted on by the vertically displaceably or pivotably arranged toe restrainer (13) acts on the same bar member (12) in the same sense with a release force which is dependent on the vertically upwardly directed force acting on the toe restrainer (13).
