Patent number: 9530580Abstract: A drive, for a switching device including a contact system with a fixed and a moving contact, including an actuator for operating the moving contact for closing or opening the contact system, and also a mechanical transmission device arranged between the moving contact and the actuator. The transmission device includes a toggle joint mechanism formed by a folding lever, pivotable about a stationary bearing, and a coupling element, connected to the folding lever via a moving bearing. The toggle joint mechanism is pivotable between a first end position and a second end position. When the changeover is made from the first to the second end position or vice versa, a maximum extended position occurs. The coupling element holds the moving contact in that position which closes the contact system in the first end position and in that position in which the contact system is open in the second end position.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2014Date of Patent: December 27, 2016Assignee: SIEMENS AKTIENGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Martin Böttcher, Karsten Freundt, Philipp Last, Maximilian Sieting

Patent number: 8975992Abstract: An electromagnetic drive for an electrical switch such as a circuit breaker, has at least one movable armature that can implement a lifting movement along a pushing direction for moving a movable switching contact of the switch. In a closed armature position, the armature closes a magnetic circuit through first and second magnetically conductive yoke parts. A permanent magnet produces a magnetic field for the magnetic circuit and a holding force for holding the armature in the closed position. A coil is disposed to generate a magnetic flux in the same or opposite direction as the magnetic flux of the permanent magnet. The electromagnetic drive can be readjusted after installation, where the first and second yoke parts are moved relative to one another by the permanent magnet into the adjusted state, whereupon they are fixed in position.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2012Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Martin Böttcher, Marcus Kampf

Patent number: 8481880Abstract: A modular cost-effective drive system for electrical switching devices of medium-voltage installations is specified. The drive system, by the addition or omission of individual components, can be used both as a three-position disconnector with a snap-action or storage drive function and as a two-position circuit breaker which can also be expanded by a brief interruption function.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2009Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Martin Böttcher, Marcus Kampf

Publication number: 20080217153Abstract: An insulating element for a medium-voltage switchgear has a terminal at the busbar end and an outgoing cable. A circuit-breaker is embedded in the insulating element. The insulating element supports a first contact point that is connected to the circuit-breaker and is used as a bearing point for a movable switching contact of a disconnector, and an additional contact point for the movable switching contact. A favorable structure for producing medium-voltage switchgears in general for primary and secondary power supply systems while reducing expenses, the additional contact point is also configured as a bearing point for the movable switching contact, the movable switching contact is alternatively mounted on the additional contact point rather than on the first contact point, and the additional contact point is alternatively connected to the outgoing cable rather than to the terminal at the busbar end.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2006Publication date: September 11, 2008Applicant: SIEMENS AKTIENGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Martin Bottcher, Stefan Hohmann, Marcus Kampf

Patent number: 5756951Abstract: An arc chute for a circuit-breaker has a chute member with arc splitters and an end member that seals off the chute member to the top. The end member has three barriers for arc gases, the first and the second barrier have webs with a more or less square cross-sectional shape which are arranged in double the pitch of the arc splitters. Situated above the second barrier is a cooling chamber, which is sealed off to the outside by the third barrier that is provided with outlet orifices.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1996Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Karl-Heinz Manthe, Martin Bottcher, Gunter Seidler-Stahl

Patent number: 4392036Abstract: A low-voltage circuit breaker has a locking lever to prevent transfer of the circuit breaker handle entirely into its "off" position if the movable contact is blocked in its "on" position by being welded to the fixed contact. The locking lever is rotatably mounted on the control shaft, which is pivotally moved by a drive lever which is connected to the control shaft by a toggle lever system including two toggle levers and a toggle hinge pin joining them together. The fork arms embrace a working surface on the drive lever and the toggle hinge pin. The working surface and the hinge pin are spaced closer together than the arms when the circuit breaker handle is in its "on" position to allow only partial movement of the handle toward its "off" position unless the movable contact is free to move to its "off" position before the locking lever pivots to a position in which it engages both the working surface and the toggle hinge pin. The locking lever can be formed as a double lever with a connecting web.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1981Date of Patent: July 5, 1983Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Werner Troebel, Martin Bottcher
