  • Patent number: 7229772
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for the determination of apoptotic products in samples taken from patients in which apoptosis is induced as a result of disease or therapy, which is characterized in that the concentration of the apoptotic products in samples taken from patients is correlated with the effectiveness of the therapy and thus serves as a follow-up for the therapy. The serum samples are taken at various times and determined. The present invention in particular concerns a method in which the concentration of nucleosomes is determined in serum samples of tumour patients in order to assess the effectiveness of tumour therapy. Furthermore the present invention also concerns the use of a method according to the invention to determine the effectiveness of therapy in tumour patients who are subjected to a radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatment as well as in patients after an acute ischaemic event or after hypothermia treatment.

  • Publication number: 20070106362
Abstract: The invention relates to a medicinal implant or instrument, more particularly to a vascular endoprosthesis (1), having a radially dilatable hose part (2) comprised of a tubular knitted fabric of interdigitating meshes composed of one or more individual fibres (9). To provide such an implant or instrument that allows for MR-imaging of the interior of the implant or instrument, the invention proposes that the fibres (9) of the knitted fabric be electrically conductive and form an inductor (7, 8) within a high-frequency resonant circuit.

  • Patent number: 6847837
Abstract: The invention relates to an MR imaging method for representing and determining the position of a medical device inserted in an examination object, and to a medical device used in the method. In accordance with the invention, the device (11) comprises at least one passive oscillating circuit with an inductor (2a, 2b) and a capacitor (3a, 3b). The resonance frequency of this circuit substantially corresponds to the resonance frequency of the injected high-frequency radiation from the MR system. In this way, in a locally limited area situated inside or around the device, a modified signal answer is generated which is represented with spatial resolution.

Abstract: The present invention provides an arrangement of fastening elements for holding bundles retained by cable ties, and a method therefor. The arrangement of elements includes a pair of strips removably attached to a sequence of fastening elements, whereby the pair of strips facilitate the transport, readying, and positioning of each fastening element prior to interaction with the cable tie. Also provided is a method for molding the arrangement of cable ties in which the cable ties are advantageously used for retaining bundles of cables, pipes, and similarly elongated items.

  • Patent number: 6513555
Abstract: A device for binding bundles of cables uses a continuously fed cable tie to bind the cables. The cable tie is wound around the bundle of cables by guide claws. The cable tie is secured by a latching lock which can be positioned in front of the guide claws. The cable tie is then cut off in a non-tensioned state behind the latching lock. While bundling the cables, a fastener can be positioned at the bundling location next to the latching lock if necessary. The fastener is configured so as to anchor the loom of cables to a support element. A carriage which can be shifted in the binding device, positions the latching locks and fasteners. The carriage includes holding jaws and a carrier which clutches the locks and fasteners fed from above. The carriage carries the parts to the outlet of the device at the transition area to the guide claws of the device. A feed channel is provided in the carriage.

  • Patent number: 6280385
Abstract: The invention relates to a magnetic resonance imaging process for the imaging and determination of the position of a stent introduced into an examination object as well as to the stent so utilized. According to the invention, the stent has at least one passive resonance circuit with an inductance and a capacitance whereby its resonance frequency is essentially equal to the resonance frequency of the applied high-frequency radiation of the magnetic resonance system. A changed signal response is thus produced in a locally defined area in or around the stent which is imaged in spatial resolution.

  • Patent number: 6023636
Abstract: In a method for the location determination of a positionable object in an examination subject by means of magnetic resonance and apparatus for the implementation of the method a reference image is acquired from at least one slice of the examination subject. The current position of the subject is determined by at least one radio-frequency reception coil attached to the object. A slice position in which the reference image is updated is determined on the basis of this current position.

  • Patent number: 5821751
Abstract: For obtaining image information from a subject, in an excitation phase nuclear resonance signals are excited with wavelet-encoding by emitting a radio-frequency pulse under the influence of a gradient in a first direction, the pulse having an envelope that corresponds to the Fourier transforms of a wavelet function. In addition, a layer selection is achieved by the application of an oscillating gradient in a second direction. In a readout phase, a gradient echo signal is sampled under the influence of a readout gradient in a third direction. The pulse sequence can be repeated with a repetition time that is shorter than the longitudinal and transverse relaxation time, so that a steady state arises.

  • Patent number: 5754046
Abstract: In a method for the acquisition and evaluation of data obtained in a nuclear magnetic resonance tomography apparatus, only data for a constant sub-region of an overall dataset, that was obtained from a preceding measurement, are updated by new measured data in subsequent successive measurements (keyhole method). In order to sharply reproduce measurement subjects in the visual display which move from measurement to measurement while only slightly lengthening the registration time in comparison to a standard keyhole measurement sequence, data for difficult sub-regions of the overall dataset are additionally updated from measurement to measurement, and these sub-regions are varied in a predetermined sequence from measurement to measurement.
