Patent number: 8424795Abstract: A container for the dispensing of electrical or communications cable has an external carton which receives a reel of cable and is supported by left and right supports. A continuous axial passageway through the container extends through the left panel of the carton, the left support, the spindle of the reel, the right support, and the right panel of the carton so that an elongate connecting rod may be passed through the container.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2011Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: Windy City Wire Cable and Technology Products, LLCInventors: Richard Galgano, Mark K. Winkel, Martin C. McGuire, Martin J. McGuire

Patent number: 8387909Abstract: A system for dispensing electrical communications cable includes first and second containers of wire or cable wound on reels placed inside respective first and second cartons. The first and second cartons are disposed to be adjacent one another and a clear passageway extends completely through the cartons, the reels, and any internal support structures in the cartons that support the reels. An elongate rod is disposed in the clear passageway and extends at least from the left panel of the first carton to the right panel of the second carton.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2012Date of Patent: March 5, 2013Assignee: Windy City Wire Cable and Technology Products, LLCInventors: Richard Galgano, Mark K. Winkel, Martin C. McGuire, Martin J. McGuire

Patent number: 8366126Abstract: A hand truck allows for the transportation of containers, where each container has a passageway therethrough. The hand truck has a flat bottom member that receives and supports a vertical stack of the containers and vertical members are affixed to the bottom member. Cross members are joined to the one or more vertical members, and each cross member has a rod-receiving hole that is formed therein such that the holes are vertically spaced apart from each other. The hand truck also has a plurality of elongate support rods. A first end of each support rod is inserted through the container passageway, is inserted into a respective cross member hole, and is fastened to the cross member to prevent its withdrawal. A second end of each support rod is enlarged so as to affix the container or containers to the respective cross member.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2011Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: Windy City Wire Cable and Technology Products, LLCInventors: Richard Galgano, Mark K. Patent number: 8157201Abstract: A container for the dispensing of wire or cable has an external carton which receives a reel of cable supported by two caddies. Each caddy has an inwardly extending substantially cylindrical bushing which is received in a central hole of a respective cable reel flange. The cylindrical bushings are disposed on an axis which is a first distance from an upper surface of a bottom panel of the carton. The largest radius of the reel flanges is preselected to be smaller than this first distance such that the reel may freely rotate inside of the carton on the bushings. Cable is pulled through a slot in the carton's front panel. Left and right panels of the carton each have an arbor hole formed therein which may receive an axial rod, the rod also extending through the reel and caddies. The axial rod may be used to join two or more cartons together and may further serve as a support for attachment to a dolly, hand truck, or four-wheeled cart.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2009Date of Patent: April 17, 2012Assignee: Windy City Wire Cable and Technology Products, LLCInventors: Richard Galgano, Mark K. Patent number: 8016222Abstract: A container for the dispensing of wire or cable has an external carton which receives a reel of cable as supported by two caddies. Each caddy has an inwardly extending substantially cylindrical bushing which is received in a central hole of a respective cable reel flange. The cylindrical bushings are disposed on an axis which is a first distance from the upper surface of the bottom panel of the carton. The largest radius of each reel flange is preselected to be smaller than this such that the reel may freely rotate inside of the carton on the bushings. Cable is pulled through a slot in the carton's front panel. Preferably, left and right panels of the carton each have an arbor hole formed therein which receives an axial rod, the rod also extending through the reel and caddies. The axial rod may be used to join two or more containers together and may further serve as a support for attachment of a wheel truck on one end of the joined-together containers and a handle at its other end.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2008Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: Windy City Wire Cable and Technology Products, LLCInventors: Richard Galgano, Mark K. Publication number: 20100320309Abstract: A container for dispensing cable comprises a carton having a plurality of panels, a plurality of reels, a plurality of axles, and first and second support panels. The reels fit onto the axles which rest in axle holes punched into the support panels. Each support panel sits inside the carton and is made up of one or more flaps. Preferably, each panel has at least two flaps that space one of the flaps from the panels of the carton to ensure the axles rest in the axle holes. Preferably, dispensing slots are disposed to be in the front panel in front of the respective reels.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2009Publication date: December 23, 2010Applicant: WINDY CITY WIRE CABLE AND TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS, LLCInventors: Richard GALGANO, Mark Winkel, Martin C.
