  • Patent number: 11286989
Abstract: A split double row spherical roller bearing comprising an outer ring including an outer race, an inner ring within the outer ring including an inner race, a cage mounted between the inner and outer races, the cage mounting rollers which engage the inner and outer races, the inner ring, inner race, outer ring, outer race, and cage each comprising two generally semicircular parts engageable together to form a circular component via respective radially extending contact surfaces, and characterized in that the contact surfaces of at least the outer ring comprise a saw-tooth arrangement in which the angle of each saw tooth joint is between 25 and 40 degrees.

  • Patent number: 9217469
Abstract: A method of splitting a ring, such as a cage, for a bearing, such as a roller or ball bearing, includes splitting a ring in such a way that there are provided projections and recesses in the facing surfaces thereby produced. In this manner, the two halves of the split ring may be reassembled in opposite orientation so that the projections on the facing surfaces of the two halves of the ring engage one another to space the two halves of the ring apart and to restore the ring to a circular ring shape despite some of the material of the ring having been removed in the splitting process.

  • Patent number: 9140296
Abstract: The present invention relates to a roller bearing (10) for supporting a rotatable component such as a shaft. We describe a double row roller bearing (10) for supporting a rotatable circular section component, said roller bearing (10) comprising an inner ring (11) including a pair of inner races (12, 13), an outer ring (17) including a pair of outer races (18, 19), two rows of rollers (22, 23) mounted between the inner and outer races, each row of which rollingly engages respective races in the inner and outer rings, clamping ring means (26) which surrounds and clamps said inner ring (11), at least said inner ring (11) and said clamping ring means (26) each comprising two substantially semicircular parts, the relevant semicircular parts being mounted together to provide a circular component for surrounding the rotatable component, and said clamping ring means (26) surrounds and clamps with said inner ring (11) at a position substantially midway between the axially opposite sides of the inner ring (11).
