    Abstract: A casing for a drive unit, particularly a drive unit for a wiper apparatus, consists of plastic reinforced with glass fiber. The drive unit casing is open at one side and is sealed there by means of a metallic cover, where the cover serves at the same time as an axial support for the support axes of the drive unit. The use of plastic reinforced with glass fiber gives the casing a sufficient strength, and additionally has the advantage that the drive unit casing is significantly lighter than corresponding casings which are constructed in metal.

    Abstract: In a drive mechanism for a windshield wiper, a switch disk for realizing a park position switch is supported so as to be independently rotatable relative to an output gear of a gear unit. The output gear and the switch disk are coupled with each other via a coupling device, with the coupling device acting as an engaging device carrying the switch disk along, in one direction of rotation only. In order to lower an axial dimension of the gear unit, the disk is rotatably supported on a sleeve, through which an output shaft extends so that the end of the shaft can support itself directly on a housing lid.

    Abstract: A lid for a gear box of a windscreen wiper is described, which includes a metallic base plate in a plastic envelope. The plastic envelope includes printed circuit conductors connected to contact lugs provided at the bottom side of the lid. The plastic layer extends substantially across the entire outer surface of the lid covering the edges of the lid in such a way that the bottom side of the plastic layer is flush with the bottom side of the base plate. In a preferred embodiment, the bottom side of the base plate is provided wit plastic material so that tension within the plastic material which occurs during cooling after injection molding does not result in warping or bending the base plate. The present invention results in a low weight, stable lid which is capable of providing support for the driven axis.

    Abstract: A drive unit for a windshield wiper apparatus includes an electrical motor, a drive unit, and an electronic unit for the control of the motor. In addition, a so-called parking position switch, which is activated by the primary gear of the drive unit, is provided. In order to achieve a compact unit, the electronic unit as well as the drive unit is provided in a casing, whereby the electrical motor is flange-mounted to the casing, and the casing is provided with a plug casing, whereas the electrical connections between the plug in the plug casing, the electronics unit, the electrical motor, and the parking position switch are carried out by way of conducting strips which are placed exclusively in the casing.

    Abstract: A casing for a drive unit has a casing base body which is sealed by means of a cover unit. The casing base body consists of plastic, while the cover is produced from metal. It is desirable to form the edge of the casing in such a manner that the cover is supported on the casing base body in a flat manner. Since, within molding technology, there are a few difficulties in forming a continuous edge, a number of elevations, which serve as a support surface for the cover, jut out onto the edge of the cover. By means of a finishing of the casting mold, it can be achieved, in a simple manner, that the sealing surfaces of the elevations come to lie in one plane. The sealing of the casing cover relative to the casing base body is carried out by way of a sealing unit which is supported on the edge of the casing and leaves the elevations free.

To ensure the mounting of the brush holder in a fully automated way, each case is formed of a U-shaped carbon brush guide provided in the backing plate and of an area of a punched grid covering the carbon brush guide, which grid is provided with a closure tang for each case.

A bush firmly fixed to the bearing housing and made of elastic material closes the ring groove in front of the slide bearing and at its end turned off from the bearing housing comprises a sealing flange radially projecting towards the inside, which sealing flange engages into a ring groove of the shaft.
