  • Patent number: 8066489
Abstract: An aerofoil assembly includes a plurality of rotatable blades. A damping member is disposed between at least two of the blades, each of the at least two blades having an aerofoil portion, a stem portion and a root portion. A recess is provided on two cooperating stem portions with a first shelf extending from a first end of each recess, and a second shelf extending from a second end of each recess to define a compartment. When the blades are aligned the damping member is held on one side of the shelves within the compartment. The damping member is provided with a projection at one corner and a projection on a diagonally opposite corner, the longitudinal distance between ends of the projections being greater than the distance between edges of the first and second shelf.

  • Publication number: 20080237994
Abstract: A sealed joint for joining male and female parts which is tolerant of relative displacement of the parts. Either of the parts may carry a sealing member that sealingly contacts a sealing surface provided on the other part. Either of the parts may carry a support member that is in load communication with a support surface provided on the other part. The sealing member and support member are spaced apart in the direction of relative displacement such that over the range of relative displacement the sealing member remains in contact with the sealing surface and the support member remains in contact with the support surface.

  • Patent number: 5306118
Abstract: An assembly for supporting knitted outlet guide vanes in a gas turbine engine comprises an exhaust difusser cone, an exhaust discharge duct surrounding and coaxial with the diffuser cone, and an annular array of the vanes extending radially between the diffuser cone and the discharge duct. Each guide vane has a root engaging the diffuser cone, and a tip. Each vane is mounted adjacent its tip to the discharge duct so as to pivot about an axis extending through the vane. A spring means is provided to urge each vane into engagement with the exhaust diffuser cone.
