  • Patent number: 8861828
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for positionally correlating, with computer assistance, patient image information included in image data generated by a magnetic resonance scanner and fiducial patient markers represented in the image data, wherein a positional relationship between the patient image information and the fiducial markers is determined by taking into consideration at least the following parameters: a) the material properties of the fiducial markers; b) image generation data included in the image data or provided with the image data; c) the resonance frequency recording mode of the magnetic resonance scanner; and d) any relative positional shift between the patient data and the fiducial markers resulting from the combination of the parameters a) to c). The invention also relates to the use of such a positional correlation in a method for registering patient image data and in a method for navigationally assisting a medical procedure.

  • Patent number: 8218843
Abstract: The present application relates to a method for registering two-dimensional image data, comprising the steps of: providing a registered three-dimensional image data set of an object under examination; providing a two-dimensional image data set of the object under examination which is to be registered; generating synthetic two-dimensional image data sets of the object under examination from the three-dimensional image data set, wherein the synthetic two-dimensional image data sets to be generated are parameterized with regard to parameters which describe the two-dimensional image data set to be registered; comparing the parameterized synthetic two-dimensional image data sets with the two-dimensional image data set to be registered, and finding the parameterized synthetic two-dimensional image data set having the greatest similarity to the two-dimensional image data set to be registered; on the basis of this, ascertaining the spatial relationship between the two-dimensional image data set to be registered an

  • Patent number: 8175365
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for registering a two-dimensional image data set, generated using fan-shaped imaging rays, in the medical field, wherein the method comprises: processing the two-dimensional image data on the basis of a spatial transformation function which describes a spatial relative position between points which have been imaged using a fan-shaped imaging ray, and the imaging apparatus used for imaging; and processing the two-dimensional image data on the basis of an imaging transformation function which describes an imaging function of the imaging apparatus used for generating the two-dimensional image data set, which describes a spatial relationship between the actual spatial position of imaged points and their imaging location in a recording.

  • Patent number: 8104477
Abstract: The fastening device in accordance with the invention is directed to a pin for securing the position of a part of a body, (for example, a head) for medical procedures. The fastening device can have an improved geometry, can be made from materials including unsubstituted, monosubstituted or multisubstituted polyphenylene, and/or silicon nitride ceramic, and can be made of one or more pieces. The fastening device in accordance with the invention produces improved performance with respect to the criteria of biocompatibility, ability to be sterilized, resistance to mechanical stress, and reduced artifact creation in medical imaging methods.
