  • Patent number: 9986923
Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for selecting a region of interest for extracting physiological parameters from a video of a subject. In one embodiment the present method involves performing the following. First, time-series signals are received which have been generated by having processing image frames of a video of a subject captured using a single band video camera with a bandpass filter with a pass band in a wavelength range of 495-565 nm and/or 800-1000 nm. The regions of interest are areas where a plethysmographic signal can be detected by the camera. Each time-series signal is associated with a different region of interest. A signal strength is then calculated for each of the time-series signals. The region associated with the time-series signal having a highest signal strength is selected. The time-series signal associated with the selected region can be processed to extract a videoplethysmographic (VPG) signal containing physiological parameters.

  • Patent number: 9870704
Abstract: A method and system for camera calibration comprises configuring a calibration target comprising calibration reflectors on a test vehicle. Video of a test scene is collected. Next the test vehicle is identified as it enters the test scene and recorded as it passes through the test scene. The position of the calibration target in each frame of the video is determined and the corresponding individual position of each calibration reflector for each frame of the recorded frames is used to construct a camera calibration map to calibrate the video camera.

  • Patent number: 9083856
Abstract: A vehicle speed measurement method and system for identifying a violating vehicle utilizing single image capturing unit. A vehicle image can be captured by the image capturing unit in order to estimate speed of the vehicle utilizing an ALPR unit. The license plate characters can be located and extracted from the captured image. A distance of the license plate from the image capturing unit can be calculated utilizing a physical character height from a reference point of the image capturing unit and a pixel character height generated by the ALPR unit. A position of the license plate in the field of view of the image capturing unit along with the distance information can be utilized to determine a height of the license plate from a road surface. The height of the license plate can be employed to accurately estimate the vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 8649052
Abstract: A method of adjusting the registration of an image printed on sheets. The method including determining a first image location relative to a first sheet, adjusting a second image to be printed based on the determined first image location and printing the adjusted second image to subsequent sheet(s). The first image location determination made by measuring at least one dimension of a fiducial mark disposed directly on a transfer surface. The fiducial mark formed by the engagement of the first sheet with the transfer surface, whereby an inner edge of the fiducial mark forms at least a partial outline of a periphery of the first sheet. Each measured fiducial mark dimension extending from the fiducial mark inner edge to an outer edge of the fiducial mark. The fiducial mark outer edge being disposed remote from the at least partial outline of the first sheet periphery.

  • Patent number: 8587832
Abstract: A dual color matching feedback control method, system and processor-readable medium for hiding an infrared marking in a wide range of customer selectable colors. The approach includes an inline spectrophotometer sensor to measure at least two color mixtures and a matching color feedback control unit adjusts the two mixtures to match each other in color appearance. A customized color can be selected from a smaller gamut of darker color by a customer and a sufficient difference in a black toner (k toner) between the two color mixtures can be maintained to provide sufficient contrast for the infrared detection. An initial match can be provided by incorporating a color model that is similar to a predicted color mixture. The two colors can then be rendered and adjusted for better match prior to rendering the hidden mark.

  • Patent number: 8553280
Abstract: An image transfer assembly and method capable of adjusting the registration of an image printed on paper. A first image location being determined on at least one first sheet by measuring for each of at least three corners of a first sheet the distance between the two adjoining edges of the respective corners to a portion of at least one first fiducial mark. For each of the measured first sheet corners the measured portion of the at least one first fiducial mark is closer to that respective corner than any other of the first sheet corners. Then a second image to be transferred is adjusted by changing, relative to at least one second sheet, at least one of a size, shear, position and orientation of the second image based on the determined first image location. The adjusted second image being then printed on the second sheet(s).

  • Patent number: 8520266
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring image on paper registration including placing a test sheet of media including a plurality of test pattern marks on a platen of an image sensing device. The platen defines a scan area over which the image sensing device is capable of scanning an image. The image sensing device includes a plurality of calibration marks falling within the scan area. The method further includes operating the scanner to scan the test sheet; determining a scanned position of the calibration marks and a scanned position of the test marks resulting from the scan; comparing the scanned position of the calibration marks with reference position of the calibration marks to determine scanning error; determining an adjusted position of the test marks responsive to the scanning error; and comparing the adjusted test mark positions with predetermined reference positions to measure registration accuracy. An edge guide disposed on the platen assists in aligning the test sheet for scanning.

  • Patent number: 8508791
Abstract: A power saving apparatus and method for imaging modules in a variable data lithography system is provided. The imaging modules are arranged adjacent to each other to project a scan line of imaging data on a rotating imaging member in a variable data lithography system. The imaging module includes a look ahead buffer which stores imaging data and from which the stored data is read out for projection on the imaging member. The power saving apparatus uses an image look ahead concept to save part of the power consumed in the imaging modules in the projection mode of operation by selectively powering each laser source based on the imaging data in the look ahead buffer.

  • Patent number: 8493633
Abstract: A system for media handling and uniformity calibration for an image scanner includes an optical window, an assist roller, an adjustment mechanism, and a calibration strip. The assist roller receives and guides media through a gap between the assist roller and the optical window. The adjustment mechanism is integrated with the assist roller for controlling the distance between the assist roller and the optical window for smooth passage of media. The controlled reflectivity calibration strip connected to the adjustment mechanism facilitates sensor calibration, such as flat field correction. The adjustment mechanism moves to position the calibration strip in alignment with the optical window whenever sensor calibration is desired.
