  • Patent number: 4326319
Abstract: An improved device for fastening a separable zipper includes specially adapted terminals disposed at the respective ends of opposed rows of zipper teeth and a specially adapted slider supported by one of terminals. The slider is provided with an annular disc which can be inserted in a cooperating aperture of the other terminal by movement in a direction substantially perpendicular to the zipper rows. A second embodiment of the invention includes specially adapted terminals and two sliders, the sliders being disposed in back-to-back relationship and supported on one of the terminals, the sliders including an annular disc separable into semicircular halves for guiding the sliders into nesting engagement with the other terminal by movement in the direction substantially perpendicular to the zipper rows.

  • Patent number: 4232430
Abstract: An improved device for connecting the ends of a separable zipper having opposed strings or rows of interlocking teeth or elements including specially adapted terminals which facilitate the engagement of the ends of the zipper and initial movement of a slider to fasten the zipper teeth. The terminals are engagable by being brought together in a direction substantially perpendicular to the zipper rows. Compared to the conventional pin-and-socket terminal arrangement wherein the pin must be threaded through one relatively small port of the slider and then into the socket, the terminals are relatively large and essentially self-aligning during engagement. Once engaged, the terminals are free to rotate relative to each other, thus permitting the opposed rows of zipper elements to self-align as the slider is urged forward to engage the rearmost ends of the zipper elements.

  • Patent number: 4232429
Abstract: A sliding fastener applicable to separable zippers and the like is disclosed. Each half of the zipper or sliding fastener is provided with a terminal, one of which holds the zipper slider. Each of the terminals also includes one part of an insert fastener, whereby the terminals may be joined. The terminals further include means which guide the slider into engagement with the zipper teeth, once the parts of the insert fastener have been joined.
