  • Patent number: 5170955
Abstract: A textile winding machine is provided having an operator accommodating package readying assembly on which individual tube support members are supported at a convenient height to thereby provide an operator with ready access to the tubes or yarn packages supported on the tube support members. The textile winding machine includes a common exit path component along which tube support members are transported after unwinding of the feed packages supported thereon at the winding units of the textile winding machine and an entry conveyor device for raising the tube support members in spaced apart manner from the common exit path component with the tubes or yarn packages out of interference with one another to a feed package re-supply support assembly extending longitudinally along the textile winding machine at a height generally at the waist level of an average operator.

  • Patent number: 4698456
Abstract: A pressurizable housing for an electrical apparatus which can be used in an explosive environment has a cable feedthrough connected to an electrical unit within the housing. The cable feedthrough also accommodates a passage for pressurizing the interior of the housing with a gas excluding the incursion of explosive gases into the housing.

  • Patent number: 4430693
Abstract: A device for illuminating a tunnel of an underground mine being worked by an excavating machine comprises a lamp housing with a light-transmissive vaulted cover snap-fitted thereto and with a fluorescent tube horizontally disposed inside that cover, the housing being suspended by a resilient mounting from a horizontal flange of a wall member of the machine shielding it from the mine face. The cover penetrates the flange and raises the tube to a level at which its light radiates upward as well as horizontally toward and away from the mine face; a flared peripheral zone of the cover enables the housing to be repressed against the spring force of its mounting by an object passing across the flange so that the top of the housing lies flush with the flange surface.

  • Patent number: 4423474
Abstract: A mine lamp has a support to which is releasably secured a flat base plate having a stepped outer edge and a forwardly directed face. This outer edge is formed with an annular abutment surface lying in a plane generally parallel to and offset backwardly from the face and an annular outwardly directed guide surface inclined at an angle to the abutment surface. A light tube is releasably supported on the base plate within the edge and in front of the face. A concave, at least partially transparent, and at least limitedly elastically deformable cover has an end wall generally parallel to and offset forwardly of the face and a continuous annular side wall extending backwardly from the end wall and having an annular rear edge formed with an annular and generally planar surface engaging backwardly against the abutment surface and an annular retaining surface engaging inwardly against the guide surface.

  • Patent number: 4312028
Abstract: A light fixture has a support formed with a recess having an inner wall. An at least partially transparent lens covers the recess. A fluorescent tube in this recess is surrounded by a transparent and elastomeric cushion sleeve that is in turn covered by a rigid and transparent jacket, both made of synthetic-resin material. Elastomeric holding blocks are engaged between the jacket and the inner wall of the recess so as to support the tube via the cushion sleeve and the jacket in the recess of the housing. Thus the tube is effectively protected against shocks of large and small amplitude over a wide frequency range.

  • Patent number: 4186432
Abstract: A lamp for use in subterranean galleries such as mines in which the cold-cathode discharge tube is received in a housing which, in turn, is removably mounted in a receptacle and is held in place by a ring clamping a flange of the housing against a flange of the receptacle. The housing may be provided with a translucent cover so that the housing can be removed and replaced as a unit. A reed switch on the receptacle cooperates with a magnet on the housing to deenergize the terminals of the housing upon its removal. The terminals of the discharge tube are embedded in an insulating potting mass within the housing.

  • Patent number: 4018500
Abstract: Junction piece for electrical leads with a funnel-shaped entry for reception of the cable containing the electrical leads, for appliances to be supplied with current, especially extension lights, characterized in that in the region of the insertion end of the junction piece into the appliance to be supplied, an annular groove is provided for the reception of a packing ring, that a bevelled shoulder is formed on the outer wall for the full attachment on the inner wall of a socket of the appliance, that a recess in which can be engaged a yoke with shanks which recess aligns with corresponding openings in the socket, is formed in the cylindrical outer region of the junction piece and that the yoke is lockable in an attachment.

  • Patent number: 3999057
Abstract: The lighting structure disclosed is particularly useful for operational areas where the reflection is poor and which are subject to the risk of explosion and fire damp. The novel lighting structure comprises a casing containing power supply means and a fluorescent tube. The power supply means is a constant current transformer with power factor compensation and a rubber-like mass encases the transformer and tube connector terminals to conceal all live electrical parts except for the light emitting portion of the tube.
