  • Patent number: 10103984
Abstract: An internet packet comprises a header field, the header field including a field identifying a source address of the internet packet, a field identifying the destination address of the internet packet and a next header field identifying whether an extension header follows the header and a type of the extension header. The extension header indicates a hop-by-hop option header, the hop-by-hop extension header including a router alert option header type indicating that the extension field is optional for a router to read, and a field providing information for a gateway support node of a packet radio system network. A gateway support node is thereby provided with information, which may be required for example to support a mobile internet protocol (IP). However, by providing the router alert option field, a router is not required to read the remainder of the hop-by-hop option field.

  • Patent number: 9426084
Abstract: Methods and systems for network communications are disclosed. In particular methods and systems for providing communications rate controls from remote sources are provided. For example, a machine-implemented method includes: managing, at a target, a request to transmit (R2T) queue and an associated data credit counter; incrementing the data credit counter based on an allowed transfer rate; selecting an R2T packet from the R2T queue; determining if the R2T packet should be sent based on the data credit counter; sending the R2T packet to an initiator when the R2T packet indicates data transfer less than the data credit counter; and decrementing the data credit counter based on the R2T packet when the R2T packet is sent.

  • Publication number: 20050196324
Abstract: A scanning mechanism for an optical probe having an optical head and an optical transmitter for transmitting light from a light source to the optical head, the scanning mechanism comprising a resilient member coupled to the optical transmitter, a fluid supply for providing a fluid to the head, and an exit path for the fluid from the head that has a fluid entry. The resilient member is located at the fluid entry so that fluid flow into the fluid entry passes over a portion of the resilient member and creates a pressure difference across the resilient member such that the resilient member is urged into the fluid entry thereby reducing the fluid flow and reducing the pressure difference, whereby the resilient member and therefore the fiber can be induced to oscillate.
