Abstract: A stage of guide vanes for a machine includes a first variable vane assembly including an airfoil. The airfoil of the first variable vane assembly includes a first member and a second member each extending generally along a radial direction and the second member being moveable relative to the first member. The stage of guide vanes also includes a second variable vane assembly including an airfoil, the airfoil of the second variable vane assembly including a first member and a second member each extending generally along the radial direction and the second member being moveable relative to the first member, the second members of the airfoils of the first and second variable vane assemblies being moveable towards one another.

Abstract: A blade retention assembly is provided that comprises: a disk, a plurality of blades, each having a dovetail disposed in one of an array of slots formed in the outer periphery of the disk, an annular inner retainer attached to the disk, and a plurality of arcuate blade retainers, the blade retainers being secured to the inner retainer by a hooked rabbet joint. A blade retainer is also provided, comprising an arcuate body having a planar inner face having an arcuate depression formed therein defining a sealing lip, and an aft face disposed opposite the inner face which has an arcuate rim formed therein.

Abstract: The invention concerns an auxiliary for liming and loosening hairs of animal skins, containing, in aqueous solution: 10 to 50 wt. % of a polysaccharide solution; 5 to 25 wt. % of a mercapto-carboxylic acid or one of its salts; and 1 to 10 wt. % of a mercapto-alcohol or one of its alkaline salts. Said auxiliary is added during liming of animal skins, to the solution generally containing alkalis, inorganic sulphides or hydrosulphides and anionic or non-ionic surfactants, for standard production of sweatbands.
