  • Patent number: 11203410
Abstract: An aircraft is disclosed having a wing, the wing having a fixed wing with a wing tip device moveably mounted about a hinge at the tip thereof. The wing tip device is operable between a flight configuration, and a load alleviating configuration for load alleviation during flight. The aircraft includes a restraining assembly operable between a restraining mode in which the wing tip device is held in the flight configuration using a restraining force such as by a brake, and a releasing mode in which the restraining force on the wing tip device is released, such that the wing tip device may adopt the load alleviating configuration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 29, 2016
Date of Patent: December 21, 2021
    Assignee: AIRBUS OPERATIONS LIMITED
Inventors: Thomas Wilson, Martin Herring, John Pattinson, Jonathan Cooper, Andrea Castrichini, Rafic Ajaj, Hitul Dhoru

  • Patent number: 10364018
Abstract: A coupling device for supporting a first wing section against a second wing section of an aircraft, and configured for passive flight load alleviation includes a housing including a chamber including a first portion and a second portion and filled with a fluid, a piston device movably arranged in the chamber and separating the first portion from the second portion in a fluid tight manner, a first fluid pathway connecting the first portion to the second portion, a first pressure relief valve arranged in the first fluid pathway and blocking the first fluid pathway, if the pressure in the second portion is smaller than a first relief pressure and opening the first fluid pathway, if the pressure in the second portion is greater than the first relief pressure. In addition, the coupling device can be used to actuate the second wing section against the first wing section.

  • Patent number: 6229077
Abstract: An inbred sunflower line, designated PHA283, the plants and seeds of inbred sunflower line PHA283, methods for producing a sunflower plant either inbred or hybrid, produced by crossing the inbred sunflower line PHA283 with itself or with another sunflower plant, and hybrid sunflower seeds and plants produced by crossing the inbred line PHA283 with another sunflower line or plants and to methods for producing a sunflower plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic sunflower plants produced by that method. This invention also relates to inbred sunflower lines derived from the inbred sunflower line PHA283, to methods for producing other inbred sunflower lines derived from inbred sunflower line PHA283, and to the inbred sunflower lines derived by the use of those methods.
