  • Patent number: 9893902
Abstract: Techniques for muting participants in a communication session are described. A communication session, such as a teleconference or a video conference, may be established between a plurality of participants using devices. Each participant engaged in the communication session may be authorized to mute or un-mute other participants. Information related to the communication session may be provided to some of the participants, including but are not limited to, indications of when a participant is muted or unmuted, indications of which participant initiated a muting or un-muting, indications of volume of a participant, or indications of types of sounds in a communication session. Social controls, utilized through transparency (e.g., providing identifying indications), may reduce the chance of misuse of the muting functionality.

  • Patent number: 9392645
Abstract: A method of manufacturing semi-manufactured PTC heating elements (10) comprises the steps of providing an electrically insulating support foil (11), providing an electrically conductive foil (12) from which at least two electrically conductive patterns separated from one another are to be formed, and laminating a PTC compound (13) between the electrically insulating support foil and the electrically conductive foil, wherein the PTC compound has adhesive properties for bonding the laminate together. Preferably, the electrically insulating support foil, the electrically conductive foil, and the semi-manufactured PTC heating elements are provided on rolls. PTC heating elements are manufactured by means of cutting the semi-manufactured PTC heating elements into suitable pieces, patterning and etching the electrically conductive patterns, and attaching electrically conductive terminals to the electrically conductive patterns.

  • Patent number: 8990329
Abstract: A system and associated methods for adding one or more invitees from a calendar event to an access control list of a multi-user communication session is disclosed. The conference application includes a social network engine, a conference server module, a session management module and a user interface engine. The social network engine hosts a multi-user communication session associated with a calendar event at the social network server. The conference server module retrieves an invitee list from a calendar application, converts the invitee list into an access control list for the multi-user communication session and stores the access control list in a cache. The session management module receives a request from one or more users to join the multi-user communication session, retrieves the access control list for the multi-user communication session from the cache and compares the one or more users against the access control list.

  • Patent number: 8667385
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for displaying annotations for a multidimensional dataset at a client device is disclosed. The client device is connected to a server system through a network. The client device displays a first view of the multidimensional dataset. The first view includes a first graph over a period of time and a plurality of annotations, each annotation corresponding to a respective time segment within the period of time. Upon receiving a user selection of one of the plurality of annotations, the client device displays a second view of the multidimensional dataset. The second view includes a second graph over the period of time and the plurality of annotation. Finally, the client device highlights the user-selected annotation among the plurality of annotations and the time segment corresponding to the user-selected annotation in the second graph.

  • Publication number: 20140009563
Abstract: Systems and methods for utilizing a non-video codec in connection with a video conferencing application are disclosed herein. Standard video codec(s) can be employed with the video conferencing application for video-based images. When a non-video image designated for sharing by way of the video conferencing application is identified, a non-video codec can be employed instead of the video codec(s) for the identified non-video image. As a result, the non-video image can be transferred more efficiently and can be rendered at the destination in higher quality.
