  • Publication number: 20240130011
Abstract: Circuitry for a plurality of induction elements for an aerosol generating device is disclosed. Each of the plurality of induction elements is for inductive heating of one or more susceptors for heating aerosol generating material in use. The circuitry includes a plurality of driver arrangements, each one of the plurality of driver arrangements being arranged to provide, from an input direct current, an alternating current to a respective one of the plurality of induction elements in use. Each driver arrangement includes one or more first transistors each controllable by a switching potential to substantially allow current to pass therethrough in use. The circuitry also includes a converter arranged to step up an input potential to provide the switching potential in use, the converter being common to each of the plurality of driver arrangements.

  • Patent number: 11672054
Abstract: Circuitry for an induction element for an aerosol generating device. The induction element is for inductive heating of a susceptor for heating an aerosol generating material in use. The circuitry includes a driver arrangement arranged to provide, from an input direct current, an alternating current for driving the induction element in use. The driver arrangement includes a plurality of transistors arranged in a H-bridge configuration. The H-bridge configuration includes a high side pair of transistors and a low side pair of transistors, the high side pair being for connection to a first electric potential higher than a second electric potential to which the low side pair is for connection is use. At least one of the high side pair of transistors is a p-channel field effect transistor.

  • Publication number: 20220240585
Abstract: An apparatus and method of application are described, which include a first switching arrangement configured to generate an alternating current from a power source. The alternating current flows through an inductive element of a resonant circuit for inductively heating a susceptor arrangement and heats an aerosol generating material of an aerosol generating device to generate an aerosol in a heating mode of operation. A driver circuit generates a control signal for controlling the first switching arrangement and a power mode switching arrangement is configured to disconnect at least a part of the driver circuit from the power source in a power saving mode of operation.

  • Publication number: 20220225681
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program is described comprising: applying an impulse to a resonant circuit comprising an inductive element, for inductively heating a susceptor, and a capacitor, wherein the applied impulse induces an impulse response between the capacitor and the inductive element of the resonant circuit, wherein each impulse response has a resonant frequency; and generating an output signal dependent on one or more properties of the impulse response.

  • Publication number: 20220160045
Abstract: A method and apparatus is described including controlling a resonant circuit of an aerosol generating device, the resonant circuit having an inductive element for inductively heating a susceptor arrangement to heat an aerosol generating material to thereby generate an aerosol in a heating mode of operation; measuring a current flowing in the inductive element; and determining one or more characteristics of the aerosol generating device and/or the susceptor arrangement based on said measured current.

  • Publication number: 20220087316
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for heating aerosolizable material to volatilise at least one component of said aerosolizable material. The apparatus comprises a first connection interface for connecting to a power source for providing power, a second connection interface for connecting to an external power source to supply power to the first connection interface, and a temperature sensitive element positioned in thermal contact with the second connection interface to be responsive to changes in the temperature of the second connection interface. The supply of electrical power to the first connection interface from the second connection interface is inhibited based on the temperature sensitive element responding to an increase in the temperature of the second connection interface. Also disclosed is a method of determining a condition of a connection interface of a tobacco industry product, a method of manufacturing an apparatus for heating aerosolizable material and a tobacco industry product.
