    Abstract: A plasma reactor for treating exhaust gases of internal combustion engines is provided, the plasma reactor having a ceramic body with a plurality of channels running through it. A gas may be passed through a first set of channels, while a second set of channels contains an electrically conducting material such that a plasma is generated in the interior of the second set of channels by applying an electric voltage. Also, a method of manufacturing a plasma reactor is provided, whereby first a green ceramic body having a plurality of channels running through it is produced and sintered to form a ceramic body, and then an electrically conducting material is introduced into a second set of channels in the ceramic body.

    Abstract: A functional coating on a substrate, including an inorganic matrix phase composed as far as possible of a phosphate and a functional material embedded in it. In addition, a method of producing this functional coating whereby first at least one functional material is dispersed in a matrix solution including a liquid component and a phosphate, and the gelatinous dispersion thus produced is applied to the substrate in the form of a coating. Then this coating is converted by a heat treatment to the functional coating including the inorganic matrix phase and the functional material integrated into it. The functional coating described here is suitable e.g., for protection against wear or corrosion or for thermal insulation, e.g., in automotive engineering or in heating technology.

    Abstract: A method for depositing a ceramic coating on a substrate by spraying a liquid. To accomplish this, first a first coating solution and at least one further coating solution are sprayed and react chemically when they are brought together. The reaction product thus formed forms the coating on the substrate or is converted into the coating in a subsequent further process step. The device has a spray device that ensures that the first coating solution and the further coating solution are brought together immediately before spraying or during spraying itself in the spray device. Alternatively, the device has a first spray device and at least one further spray device, so that the coating solutions are brought together and the reaction that forms the reaction product takes place after spraying on the substrate has occurred.
