    Abstract: The present invention concerns the use of aprotic polar solvents, water, and an ionization stabilizing agent to prepare device compatible stable therapeutic formulations by dissolving a therapeutic agent (active ingredient) in an aprotic polar solvent system that can then be used with various devices (e.g., pumps, infusion sets) for administration of the formulation. In certain embodiments, the invention is directed to formulations comprising one or more therapeutic agents, as well as methods of making such formulations, comprising at least one therapeutic agent dissolved in an aprotic polar solvent system, such as a DMSO/water admixture, comprising at least one ionization stabilizing excipient in a concentration sufficient to impart physical and chemical stability to the therapeutic agent.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein to control brightness based on image content or other inputs to a display system. A dual-control system may integrate both slow control operations and fast control operations into a cohesive brightness management system. By using both shorter-term (e.g., fast control) and longer-term (e.g., slow control) brightness adjustment operations, the electronic device may quickly respond to high luminance and high brightness situations that may cause burn-in into the display, image artifacts, or other damage. Responding quickly to these high consumption situations may prevent damage or perceivable upset to an ongoing process, among other benefits.

    Abstract: A cortical malformation identification method includes quantitatively evaluating, using a processor of a computer that includes the processor and a memory, digital image data from a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan on a cerebral cortex to produce quantified scan data. The method also includes automatically detecting a cortical malformation based on the quantified scan data. An image of the cerebral cortex may be color-coded so that the cortical malformation is shown in a different color than the remainder of the cerebral cortex in the image, based on the quantified scan data. Additionally or alternatively, a 3-dimensional representation of the cerebral cortex may be mapped to the quantified scan data to produce a mapped image of the cerebral cortex including the detected cortical malformation.

    Abstract: Both a system and method are provided for modulating the intensity of an output beam generated by semiconductor laser. The exemplary system includes a source of pulsating current connected to the laser that generates a pulsating beam of laser light, an external modulator having an input that receives the pulsating beam, and an output controlled by pulsating control signal, wherein the output beam transmitted by the external modulator output is modulated by changing a relative phase angle between the pulsating current powering the laser, and the control signal of the external modulator over time. The external modulator may be an intensity-type modulator whose output is controlled by a gate signal having a constant phase, and the source of pulsating current powering the laser may be variable phase in order to modulate the output beam with an external modulator having a simple structure.
