  • Publication number: 20120045346
Abstract: The controller of the plural component proportioner (10) dispenses both components (or all three if a three component material) as necessary to maintain the correct mix ratio. The fluid displacement measuring technique described allows this proportioning to take place with the “A” or main component pump always able to supply fluid to the spray gun without being stopped. The “B” component, at a higher pressure, is added as necessary to control ratio. The control can determine whether the pumps were properly loaded with fluid, and the fluid was properly compressed for accurate measurement. This technique allows for the proportioned fluids to be provided to the spray gun(s) at high flow rates and consistent spray pressure without interruption.

  • Publication number: 20120042534
Abstract: An application for a shower drying system that directs air downwardly onto the walls, surfaces and/or shower curtain of a shower enclosure. In one embodiment, the air is heated. The movement of the air in the downward direction helps urge droplets of water on the shower surface towards a drain at the lower level of the shower enclosure. Remaining water on the surfaces is evaporated into water vapor that is exhausted from above the shower enclosure, thereby reducing mold and mildew.

  • Publication number: 20120046407
Abstract: A method of making a polymeric compound, comprising discrete particles responsive to an external stimulus, that is resistant to aggregation in high-shear fields, which includes the addition of a polymerization initiator to a reaction mixture comprising a monomer corresponding to the polymeric compound, wherein the method comprises the portion-wise addition of aliquots of a cross-linking agent to the reaction mixture, wherein an aliquot of the cross-linking agent is added to the reaction mixture both before the addition of the polymerization initiator and after the polymerization has progressed substantially to completion. The polymer particles are largely immune to the effects of transient shear rates at least as high as 106 s?1, whilst maintaining their thermal responsiveness and being present at moderate concentration. The structural and chemical modifications brought by the delayed portion-wise addition of the cross-linking agent allow an improvement in stability in a high-shear field.

  • Patent number: 8118750
Abstract: The disclosure describes blood flow sensors for detecting penile tumescence. A system according to the invention may include at least one sensor for sensing blood flow into the penis, and one sensor for sensing blood flow away from the penis. Detecting penile tumescence may be accomplished by comparing the flow of blood into the penis to the blood flow out of the penis. A greater inflow of blood indicates an increasing tumescence whereas a greater outflow of blood indicates a decreasing tumescence. The sensors may be used for short- or long-term monitoring of penile tumescence, or as closed-loop feedback in a therapeutic penile tumescence control system, which may deliver electrical or chemical stimulation therapy to control a tumescence or erectile state, thus treating sexual dysfunction or, more specifically, erectile dysfunction.
