Publication number: 20090255594Abstract: An apparatus (1) for the application of a composition curable by irradiation to a fastener (2) having: a conveyor (3) for conveying fasteners to an application station (5); an application station (10) comprising an applicator from which the composition is dispensed. The conveyor rotates the fasteners past the applicator for application of composition. The same or another conveyor (8) conveys the fasteners to an irradiation station (10) and rotates the fasteners for irradiation thereof. The irradiation station irradiates and thus cures the composition applied to each fastener.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2009Publication date: October 15, 2009Applicants: Loctite (R&D) Limited, Henkel AG & Co. KGaAInventors: Matthias Haller, Martin J. Fitzpatrick, Fergal A. Gordon, Karen O'Flynn, Peter Wrobel

Patent number: 6547177Abstract: A device for winding pipe sealant filamentary materials onto a pipe comprising: (a) a retainer for retaining a length of filamentary material; and (b) an elongate dispensing aid projecting from said retainer, the dispensing aid comprising at least one guide located at a position spaced from the retainer and through which the filamentary material passes. The material is for sealing threaded pipe joints. The device may be motorized for rotational motion, for example by attachment to a power tool. The device may also have a locating portion for engaging an end of a pipe to which the filamentary material is to be applied. The locating portion may act as an automatic adjuster of the position of the device. Relative rotation of the dispensing aid and the automatic adjuster actuates the automatic adjuster. The device allows for ease of application of pipe sealant material to pipes and may be hand-held.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Loctite (R&D) LimitedInventor: Martin J. Fitzpatrick

Publication number: 20010010344Abstract: A device (1; 30; 60; 90; 120; 140) for winding pipe sealant filamentary materials (12; 44, 65, 94; 123) onto a pipe (47; 70; 102; 132; 161) comprising: (a) a retainer (2; 31; 61; 121; 142) for retaining a length of filamentary material; and (b) an elongate dispensing aid (7; 32; 62; 92; 122; 141) projecting from said retainer, the dispensing aid comprising at least one guide (8; 51; 78; 107; 135) located at a position spaced from the retainer and through which the filamentary material passes. The material is for sealing threaded pipe joints. The device may be motorized for rotational motion, for example by attachment to a power tool. The device may also have a locating portion (37; 63; 95; 124) for engaging an end of a pipe to which the filamentary material is to be applied. The locating portion may act as an automatic adjuster of the position of the device. Relative rotation of the dispensing aid and the automatic adjuster actuates the automatic adjuster.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2001Publication date: August 2, 2001Applicant: LOCTITE (R&D) LIMITEDInventor: Martin J. Patent number: 6161727Abstract: A disconnectable flow connector for connecting a fluid-containing flexible bag (1) to a fluid supply line (100) is sufficiently airtight so as to allow dispensing of fluids, especially adhesives, which are highly reactive on contact with even the least quantity of air. The bag (1) has a spout (2, 3) with a pierceable membrane (5). A valve (10) has a tapering end which can pierce and then seal the membrane, an aperture (13) at the tip, and a valve plunger (14) operable so as to be retractable from the aperture (13) to an open (fluid flow) position independently of the piercing action. A fluid pressure mechanism is provided for driving fluid from the flexible bag (1) through the flow connector to the fluid supply line (100). The mechanism consists of a housing (30,31,32,33) for containing the bag (1) and a housing end wall (34) which is moveable along the length of the housing. The bag (1) has no tendency to collapse or fold in on itself.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1998Date of Patent: December 19, 2000Assignee: Loctite (Ireland) LimitedInventors: Fergal A. Gordon, Martin J. Fitzpatrick, Alan T. Crampton
