  • Patent number: 9593647
Abstract: An intercooler for an internal combustion engine has a fin-and-tube block including a plurality of flat heat transfer units having internal fluid passages orientated transversely to the direction of air flow, and arranged parallel to one another to define gaps therebetween. Fin units are disposed in the gaps and contact adjacent heat transfer units. Each fin unit defines a longitudinally-oriented air flow passage, the air flow passages having a first air flow area at an air inlet end and a second air flow area at an air outlet end, the first air flow area greater than the second air flow area. The fins of the fin units converge in the direction of the air flow through the passage so that the pitch of the fins at the air inlet end of is greater than the pitch of the fins at the air outlet end.

  • Patent number: 9546590
Abstract: A condensate reservoir for a charge air cooler of an engine has one or more inlets for receiving condensate from the charge air cooler, and a chamber for collecting the condensate from the charge air cooler. The condensate reservoir is configured to be in thermal communication with an exhaust gas recirculation duct of the engine such that thermal energy from the exhaust gas recirculation duct may be transferred to the condensate reservoir to vaporize the condensate collected in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 7845466
Abstract: A sound generator for a vehicle is provided, including a hollow drum having a sound radiation panel structurally and acoustically coupled thereto. The drum has an aperture formed in an outer wall thereof. The drum is adapted to be in fluid communication with an air conduit of the vehicle. The sound radiation panel covers at least a portion of the aperture and is adapted to radiate sound energy to at least one of an engine compartment and an interior of the vehicle. A vehicle system including the sound generator and a method for manufacturing the sound generator are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090056293
Abstract: An air filter is disclosed including a particulate filtration portion for filtering particulates from inlet air flow. The filtration portion is produced from a first sheet of air filtration material folded into a pleated volume that is bounded by a plurality of sides including a pair of opposite folded sides, through which air flow passes, at least one pleated side that extends between the folded sides, and at least one end side at each end of the series of pleats. The pleated sides and end sides meet along at least one corner edge of the pleated volume, and the pleated side meets each of the folded sides along side edges that extend along the series of pleats. The air filter also has a side sealing portion for forming a particulate seal within the housing along the pleated side. The sealing portion is made from a second sheet of air filtration material that covers the pleated side and projects beyond the pleated side to provide a flange that extends upright from a folded side along a corresponding side edge.
