  • Patent number: 10132124
Abstract: Disclosed is a tubular pipe string element having a pin connector and a box connector complementary to the pin connector. The pin and box connectors are rotationally engageable with the respective box and pin connectors of another pipe string element and have complementary anti-rotation devices that cooperate to prevent unintentional relative rotation between the connectors. The anti-rotation devices may include saw-tooth profiled, radially extending teeth and a steep trailing tooth flank angle for the pin member, and at least one detent member formed on the pipe string element for the box connector. When securing the pin and box connectors, the leading flanks of the teeth engage with the detent members while allowing the connectors to rotate into a fully connected position. The steep trailing tooth flank is trapped by the detent member when in the fully connected position to prevent unintentional release of the connection.

  • Patent number: 9334988
Abstract: A pipe connector comprises a first pipe section having a first end and having teeth formed on its outer surface proximate to, but spaced axially apart from, the first end. A second pipe section has a second end which, in use, is to be connected to the first end of the first pipe section. A sleeve is slidably mounted on the outer surface of the second pipe section for movement between a first extended position, in which a front end of the sleeve projects beyond the second end of the second pipe section so as, in use, to overlap the first end of the first pipe section when abutted against the second end of the second pipe section, and a second retracted position in which said front end is withdrawn so as at least to be aligned with the second end of the second pipe section, the sleeve having teeth formed on its outer surface at least in the region of the front end. A stop is provided on the second pipe section and the sleeve to prevent axial movement of the sleeve beyond the extended position.

  • Publication number: 20140353963
Abstract: A pipe connector comprises a first pipe section 2 having a first end 2a and having teeth 17 formed on its outer surface proximate to but spaced axially apart from the first end 2a. A second pipe section 3 having a second end 3 which, in use, is to be connection to the first end 2a of the first pipe section 2. A sleeve 8 is slidably mounted on the outer surface of the second pipe section for movement between a first extended position, in which a front end 8a of the sleeve 8 projects beyond the second end 3 of the second pipe section so as, in use, to overlap the first end 2a of the first pipe section 2 when abutted against the second end 3 of the second pipe section, and a second retracted position in which said front end is withdrawn so as at least to be aligned with the second end 3 of the second pipe section, the sleeve 8 having teeth 13 formed on it outer surface at least in the region of the front end 8a.

  • Patent number: 6659183
Abstract: A drill cuttings injection system injects cuttings from drilling a well into a wellhead assembly. The wellhead assembly has a tubular housing mounted to an upper end of a well and a casing hanger concentrically located in the housing, defining an annular clearance. A port extends through the housing for injecting a stream of drill cuttings into the annular clearance. A sleeve is mounted in the port. The sleeve has a cylindrical sidewall and an inner end containing a deflection plate. The sleeve has an aperture in the sidewall adjacent the deflection plate for discharging the stream after the stream contacts the deflection plate. The deflection plate protects the casing hanger from erosive contact with the stream.
