  • Patent number: 8906266
Abstract: Process for the preparation of hydrogen and carbon monoxide containing gas from a gaseous carbonaceous feedstock by performing the following steps: (a) auto-thermal reforming of a gaseous feedstock thereby obtaining a first gaseous mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, (b) catalytic steam reforming of the gaseous carbonaceous feedstock to obtain a second gaseous mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide by feeding steam and the gaseous carbonaceous feedstock through a first set of numerous microchannels provided with a steam reforming catalyst and feeding the first gaseous mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide through a second set of numerous microchannels, wherein the first and second set of microchannels are oriented such that the required heat for the steam reforming reaction in the first set of microchannels is provided by convective heat exchange from the second set of microchannels, thereby obtaining the hydrogen and carbon monoxide containing gas as the effluent of the second set of microchannels.

  • Patent number: 8759406
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for the production of hydrocarbon products from a methane comprising feedstock comprising of the steps of: preparing a feed syngas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide having a hydrogen/carbon monoxide molar feed ratio in a syngas manufacturing process and using the feed syngas in a Fischer-Tropsch process using one or more fixed bed catalyst beds as present in one or more syngas conversion reactors thereby obtaining the hydrocarbon product and an residual tail gas. The manufacturing process comprises of two parallel operated syngas manufacturing processes starting from the same gaseous methane comprising feedstock.

  • Publication number: 20100108948
Abstract: The invention provides a process to prepare a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide from a methane comprising gas. The following steps are performed: (a) partial oxidation of the methane comprising gas with an oxygen containing gas at a pressure of above 5 MPa thereby obtaining a raw syngas comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen having a temperature of above 1100° C., (b) expanding the raw syngas in a high temperature/high pressure turbo-expander thereby recovering power and obtaining an expanded syngas having a pressure below 4 MPa and a temperature below 1050° C., and (c) further cooling the expanded syngas to obtain the mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide having a temperature of between 100 and 500° C.

  • Publication number: 20090224209
Abstract: A process to prepare a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide from a methane containing gaseous feed by performing the following steps, (a) performing a partial oxidation by contacting the feed with an oxygen containing gas to prepare a gaseous mixture comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide, steam, carbon dioxide, methane and soot particles said mixture having an elevated temperature, (b) passing the gaseous mixture of step (a) through a filter where the soot particles are retained on the filter and a mixture comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane poor in soot is obtained wherein the filter is a ceramic foam filter or a ceramic wall-flow filter, and (c) converting the retained soot particles at the elevated temperature to carbon oxide.

  • Patent number: 7087652
Abstract: Synthesis gas for a Fischer-Tropsch process is obtained by primary steam reforming a hydrocarbon feedstock in tubes in a heat exchange reformer, subjecting the primary reformed gas to secondary reforming and using the hot secondary reformed gas to heat the tubes in the heat exchange reformer. The resultant reformed gas is cooled, de-watered and used to form hydrocarbons in the Fischer-Tropsch process. At least part of the tail gas from the Fischer-Tropsch process is combusted in a gas turbine to provide power for the reforming process.
