  • Patent number: 8579327
Abstract: A steering column is provided for a motor vehicle, which can be moved within a predetermined adjustment range, and in the event of a crash can be shifted beyond the predetermined adjustment range into a crash position, with a steering column cladding and a latching device for locking the steering column into the respective position. The latching device has a manually activatable actuating element, and the steering column cladding and actuating element can be positioned relative to each other in such a way by moving the steering column into the crash position that the actuating element is or can be supported against the steering column cladding as it is being fixed in place with the steering column locked.

  • Patent number: 7975569
Abstract: A telescopable steering spindle arrangement is provided that includes, but is not limited to a steering spindle near the steering wheel, an intermediate spindle mounted rotationally fixedly and telescopably therein. The steering spindle near the steering wheel and the intermediate spindle are connected axially frictionally to one another, as well as a steering spindle near the steering gear. The intermediate spindle is mounted rotationally fixedly and telescopably in the steering spindle near the steering gear, and the intermediate spindle and the steering spindle near the steering gear are connected axially positively to one another.

  • Publication number: 20070271530
Abstract: A method and an apparatus allow for the menu-controlled selection of menu items which have associated files containing audio and/or video data. A first menu level with a plurality of first menu items and a second menu level with a plurality of second menu items, which are dependent on a first selection of one of the first menu items, are shown successively on a display device. After selection of one of the second menu items, the first menu level with the plurality of first menu items is shown again. This allows the plurality of first menu items to be able to be selected randomly after the first menu level has been shown again. The user can therefore select any of the menu items on the first menu level as desired. He is not restricted in his selection in any way.

  • Patent number: 5360974
Abstract: A dual quad flexure carriage and assembly, for receiving a sensing probe, is used for scanning the sensing probe across a target surface. The flexure carriage is a unitary structure providing flat motion for the sensing probe during the scanning procedure, while further compensating for thermal creep. The dual quad flexure assembly comprises the dual quad flexure carriage along with piezo actuators and control systems to provide highly linear orthogonal motion.

  • Patent number: 5262643
Abstract: A non-contact, step-wise method for automatically positioning a sensing probe, having a vibrating cantilever and tip, above a target surface utilizing acoustic and Van der Waals interactions respectively during an approach method. The sensing probe is lowered to a substantially optimized tip to target surface distance. The system utilizes the interaction of forces between the vibrating cantilever and target surface to automatically position the sensing probe above the target surface.

  • Patent number: 5260577
Abstract: A sample carriage, for receiving a sample to be scanned and positionable in a scanning probe microscope, is used for physically decoupling the sample from the scanning probe microscope assembly. The sample carriage, constructed from low thermal coefficient material, is physically decoupled by releasably clamping a sample carriage to a bridge support.
