Abstract: A method of providing user interaction with third parties through an electronic programme guide for a television receiver is described. Either the television receiver or computing equipment local to the television receiver and in communication with it comprises a system for assembling an electronic programme guide. The system receives scheduling information for populating the electronic programme guide, and also receives offer information associated with the scheduling information. The system then displays as an electronic programme guide the scheduling information together with its associated offer information. A user selection of offer information is received, and a transaction for the offer information is established. Apparatus and software for achieving this result are also described.
