  • Patent number: 8395491
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling driving stability of a vehicle wherein a number of input variables are used to control the driving speed of the vehicle to a limit speed. In order to prevent unstable driving conditions in a pre-controlled manner, a model-based stable limit speed of the vehicle is determined on the basis of measured variables that are detected by means of detection devices and represent the current steering angle and the current lateral acceleration, by including other quantities of the vehicle and/or the driving situation, and the driving speed is compared to the model-based stable limit speed of the vehicle, and based on the comparison result, the driving speed is adapted to the limit speed when the driving speed exceeds the limit speed.

  • Publication number: 20060158031
Abstract: The present device relates to a system and method for controlling the driving stability of a vehicle utilizing variables that characterize a driving situation of the vehicle and are detected in a process. The system and method include determining an expected future behavior of the vehicle, checking the expected future driving behavior with respect to a critical driving situation and executing a vehicle intervention during stable driving conditions to prevent the vehicle from entering a critical driving situation. The intervention may include a brake intervention or an engine intervention.

  • Patent number: 6957873
Abstract: In a method for regulating the driving stability of a vehicle pressures for individual brakes of the vehicle are determined in dependence on several input quantities so that the driving stability is enhanced by brake interventions at individual wheels. To enhance the driving stability of a vehicle, it is determined during stable driving performance whether in view of a highly dynamic steering maneuver there is a tendency to a subsequent unstable driving performance, and in this case brake pre-intervention will occur already when the vehicle exhibits a stable driving performance.

  • Patent number: 6692090
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of maintaining the effect of the engine brake of a vehicle during hill descent by way of an active, electronically controlled intervention of the brakes on at least one wheel. The present invention is characterized by a determination of the status of the wheels split into ‘stable wheels’ and ‘unstable wheels’ and the deceleration of all stable wheels (11 to 14) in the event of at least one unstable wheel, on which the condition Vunstable<Ki×Vref occurs, wherein Vunstable=speed of the unstable wheel Vref=medium wheel speed of the stable wheels Ki=correction factor (FIG. 2).
