    Abstract: Bicomponent fibers comprising a thermoplastic polymer and an elastomeric compound are made which can be continuously extruded from the melt at high production rates. The elastomeric compound has high flow and consists essentially of a selectively hydrogenated block copolymer and a tackifier resin, an alpha-olefin copolymer, an alpha-olefin terpolymer, a wax or mixtures thereof. In one embodiment the block copolymer has at least one polystyrene block of molecular weight from 5,000 to 7,000 and at least one polydiene block of molecular weight from 20,000 to 70,000 and having a vinyl content of greater than 60 mol %. In a second embodiment the block copolymer has a vinyl content of less than 60 mol %. The bicomponent fibers are useful for the manufacture of articles such as woven fabrics, spun bond non-woven fabrics or filters, staple fibers, yarns and bonded, carded webs.

    Abstract: An epoxy resin composition containing a) an epoxy resin and b) a liquid amine terminated polyamide curing agent prepared by condensing an aminoalkylpiperazine and a dicarboxylic acid. The epoxy resin composition typically requires less than 35% of solvent to produce a sprayable viscosity. The cured epoxy composition has good flexibility. A hydroxy-functional flexibilized resin is also produced by reacting (a) an epoxy resin, (b) a liquid aminoalkylpiperazine-based amine terminated polyamide and (c) a hydroxy-functional amine.

    Abstract: Disclosed are polyamides which are the reaction product of (A) an acid component of which 15-99 wt. % comprises one or more saturated or unsaturated dibasic C.sub.28 -C.sub.44 carboxylic acid, 1-50 wt. % comprises one or more saturated or unsaturated monobasic C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 carboxylic acid, another 1-50 wt. % comprises one or more saturated or unsaturated C.sub.2 -C.sub.22 carboxylic acids, and optionally polybasic C.sub.2 -C.sub.14 and tribasic C.sub.42 -C.sub.66 carboxylic acids, and (B) an amine component of which 10-90 wt. % comprises diethylene triamine and/or one or more C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene diamines, and 10-90 wt. % comprises a poly(oxyalkylene) diamine whose molecular weight is 500-2000. The polyamides are solid at room temperature and fluid at elevated temperature so as to be capable of application as a protective coating to a substrate such as metal.
