  • Patent number: 5235397
Abstract: A device for guiding a sheet at the exit side of a transport nip formed by a pair of rollers is provided with a movable guide member having a thin end. When the device is in a position of rest, the guide member occupies a position such that the thin end is situated close to but not touching the transport nip. The leading edge of a sheet fed through the transport nip is intercepted by the thin end of the guide member, by means of an operative electrostatic force, whereafter the sheet pushes the guide member ahead of itself and is thereby separated from the nip-forming surfaces of the pair of rollers.

  • Patent number: 5021836
Abstract: A method and means for transferring two images substantially simultaneously and directly to different sides of a receiving sheet, wherein the images are formed one behind the other on an endless belt trained about support rollers. An image transfer zone in the form of a loop between the transport rollers is formed in the belt via a guide roller, thereby bringing the two image towards one another. During transfer of the images to the receiving sheet, the direction of rotation of one of the transport rollers is reversed.

  • Patent number: 4943831
Abstract: A fixing device for fixing a powder image on a receiving sheet in a fixing nip formed by a fixing roller and a pressure roller which has a lower flexural stiffness than the fixing roller. These rollers are pressed against one another by a stationary cushion filled with compressed air and pressing against the pressure roller in a pressure zone situated opposite the fixing nip. When the pressure roller and the fixing roller are driven, tangentially directed frictional forces are exerted on the pressure roller that causes the pressure roller to deflect against a curved support surface which limits the deflection. The pressure roller deflected in the operative position causes a receiving sheet fed through the fixing nip to be stretched in a direction transversely of the direction of conveyance to eliminate any bubbles or corrugations in the receiving sheet.
