  • Patent number: 5714384
Abstract: A compartmentalized cell culture bag comprising a cell culture compartment defined by lower gas permeable film and an upper membrane selectively permeable to compounds of selected sizes. Culture medium resides between the upper membrane and the lower gas permeable film. A basal medium compartment is located above the upper membrane and allows basal medium to reside upon the upper membrane. Each compartment contains an access port. A gas film support below and in partial contact with the gas permeable film holds the gas permeable film in a substantially horizontal position so that suspension or adherent cells can distribute across the surface of the gas permeable film.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 30, 1995
Date of Patent: February 3, 1998
Inventors: John R. Wilson, Martin L. Wolf
  • Patent number: 5707869
Abstract: A cell culture device comprising a container having a plurality of wells. Each well includes a cell culture compartment defined by a lower gas permeable film and an upper sheet selectively permeable to compounds of selected sizes. The device allows culture medium to reside between the upper sheet and the lower gas permeable film. A basal medium compartment is located above the upper sheet and allows basal medium to reside upon the upper sheet. Each compartment contains an access port. A gas film support below and in partial contact with the gas permeable film holds the gas permeable film in a substantially horizontal position so that suspension or adherent cells can distribute across the surface of the gas permeable film.

  • Patent number: 5693537
Abstract: A cell culture device comprising a container having a cell culture compartment defined by a lower gas permeable film and an upper sheet selectively permeable to compounds of selected sizes. The device is adapted to allow culture medium to reside between the upper sheet and the lower gas permeable film. A basal medium compartment is located above the upper sheet and is adapted to allow basal medium to reside upon the upper sheet. Each compartment contains an access port. A gas film support below and in partial contact with the gas permeable film holds the gas permeable film in a substantially horizontal position so that suspension or adherent cells can distribute across the surface of the gas permeable film.

  • Patent number: 5462874
Abstract: A multiple well tissue culture plate (10) having a plurality of opened bottomed wells (36) with a semi-permeable membrane (20) across the bottoms of a plurality of such wells (36). The multiple well tissue culture plate (10) is placed in contact with the basal medium (26) contained within the basal medium reservoir (12) to allow for exchange of nutrients and waste products between the basal medium (26) and the culture medium (22) across the semi-permeable membrane (20). The dialyzed multiple well tissue culture plate (50) provides dialysis of each individual well within the multiple well tissue culture plate (10) thus eliminating traditional exchange of culture medium to maintain proper culture conditions.
