  • Publication number: 20100200486
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating a medical liquid which includes a treatment machine having a coupling surface, with a cassette made of a hard part having liquid-conducting passages which are covered by a flexible film being able to be coupled to the coupling surface of the treatment machine. The invention furthermore relates to a corresponding medical cassette. In accordance with the invention, an air-free coupling of the flexible film of the cassette to the treatment machine is ensured in that air can be sucked out areally along a plane between the flexible film and the coupling surface during the coupling process and/or with a coupled cassette. The invention equally includes a method for coupling the cassette and a method for checking the leaktightness of the cassette via the vacuum control of the air suction.

  • Publication number: 20100179467
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for controlling a system for transporting blood, and a method for transporting blood in a blood line of an extracorporeal blood circuit of an extracorporeal blood treatment system. The present invention also relates to an extracorporeal blood treatment device comprising such a system for transporting blood. The method and device according to the present invention are based on the fact that a defined threshold value for the pressure in the blood line should not be exceeded. The system for transporting blood is controlled in such a way the blood in the blood line is transported in a pre-determined volume flow as long as the pressure in the blood line is below the pre-determined threshold value. When the pressure in the blood line reaches the pre-defined threshold value, however, the system for transporting blood is controlled such that a pressure value corresponding to the threshold value is set when the blood is transported in the blood line.

  • Patent number: 6752172
Abstract: An apparatus for the supply or branching off of a secondary flow into or out of a main flow of a medical fluid, including a fluid guide body in which at least one main passage open to one side and at least one secondary passage opening into the main passage are provided. A covering film is disposed on the fluid guide body above the open side of the main passage. The orifice of the secondary passage into the main passage can be closed by the covering film. In order to improve the haemocompatibility of the apparatus, the main passage is formed free of wake space in the region of the orifice of the secondary passage. To reduce flow losses, the secondary passage in the main passage has a streamlined outer contour in accordance with the invention corresponding to the flow direction of the main flow in the main passage.

  • Patent number: 6645166
Abstract: A blood treatment device, in particular a dialysis machine, which permits both single-needle and dual-needle operation. The device has a blood treatment unit, in particular a dialyzer that has an inlet connected to a feed line and an outlet connected to a return line. The feed line has two parallel line branches with a positive displacement pump being connected into the first and second line branches. To produce a fluid connection between the outlet of the dialyzer and one of the two pumps, a connection line is provided. For dual-needle operation, the feed and return lines are connected to an arterial and a venous needle. For single-needle operation, the feed and return lines are brought together and connected to a common needle. The connection line permits single-needle operation without great changes to the structure of the blood treatment device.
