  • Publication number: 20060174724
Abstract: A camshaft has contrarotating cams for automotive engines, in which an inside shaft and an outside shaft are arranged concentrically so they are contrarotating, at least one cam has at least one main cam element that can be placed radially on the outside shaft and is supported there so it can rotate. The main cam element is connected to the inside shaft in a manner that is rotationally locked via a fastener passing through a recess in the outside shaft. Further features include a fastener, a main cam element and a locking means. The fastening of the main cam element to the inside shaft is provided by widening the outside diameter of the fastener by the locking means with a resulting tightly seated connection between the fastener and the inside shaft, and the fastener and the locking means.

  • Patent number: 7069889
Abstract: Disclosed is a camshaft, especially for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, comprising at least one cam that is provided with cam segments (2, 3), which can be displaced relative to each other. The aim of invention is to create a compact camshaft structure while obtaining or ensuring good and stable guidance between the cam segments (2, 3) that can be displaced relative to each other. Said aim is achieved by placing the ends of the U-legs of the second cam segment (3), which has the shape of a horseshoe and is movable while the other cam segment (2) is connected in a fixed manner to the camshaft, entirely within the outer contour of the basic camshaft material located between the U-legs in the radially deployed position of the second cam segment (3), said U-legs resulting from the horseshoe shape of said cam segment (3) and extending in a free manner at the ends thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050211202
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve control for actuating at least one valve, especially an inlet or outlet valve of an internal combustion engine, wherein the dimension of the valve lift of the at least one valve corresponds to a superposition of two cam profiles which can be adjusted in phases in relation to each other and are displaced synchronously. The aim of the invention is to improve the construction and functioning of the valve control. As a result, a guiding means between an intermediate element and the first cam profile is embodied as third cam profile which is formed in a complementary manner with respect to the first cam profile and rotates in a synchronous manner therewith.

  • Patent number: 6935296
Abstract: A gas shuttle valve is for an internal combustion engine, in which a valve plate, as a sealing element, a tubular valve shaft, as a guide element, and a thrust part, which seals the end of the valve shaft opposite to the valve cone, as a stop for a valve operating element having a support for a typical valve spring, are welded to one another. This production method is distinguished by a precisely fitted assembling of these parts to a predetermined length measure, which precedes the permanent bonding of the valve shaft and thrust part.

  • Patent number: 6718923
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to functionally improve a hydraulic play compensation element for a valve gear of an internal combustion engine. To this end, the play compensation element is characterized by the following features. Both components (4; 6) enclose a pressure chamber (7) between them, which is sealed from the exterior and which has a volume that depends on the relative position of both components (4; 6). A pressure spring (5) that presses both components (4; 6) away from one another is mounted inside the pressure chamber (7). The pressure chamber (7) can be connected to the storage chamber (8) via a spring-loaded one-way valve (10) through which media can flow exclusively into the pressure space. An additional controllable stop valve (11) is provided in the connection of the pressure chamber (7) to the storage chamber (8). A throttling channel (17), which serves as a bypass to the one-way valve (10), is provided between the pressure chamber (7) and the controllable stop valve (11).
